Omnimovement is a big highlight of COD Black Ops 6's recent gameplay reveal. It is a dynamic movement system that will be featured in the upcoming Call of Duty title. It seems capable of introducing a new dimension to the franchise's typical combat and gunplay, which begs the question: would something similar to Omnimovement being included in GTA 6 benefit the next Rockstar Games title?
The answer is to this question is yes. The Grand Theft Auto series is in need of fresh mechanics, especially after more than 10 years of GTA 5's rather tame melee, gunplay, and movement systems.
With that said, let's take a closer look at why GTA 6 should incorporate Omnimovement like COD Black Ops 6.
Note - This article is subjective and solely reflects the writer's opinions.
Incorporating a feature like Omnimovement from COD Black Ops 6 could benefit GTA 6's gameplay
The implementation of Omnimovement will allow COD Black Ops 6 players to sprint, dive, and slide in any direction in combat. It will also provide a full 360 degree range of motion, even when proned.
Although GTA 6's gameplay would likely not be as intense as a Call Of Duty game, freedom in terms of movement really feels like the next step the series needs to take. While GTA 5's combat and movement mechanics aren't exactly poor, they aren't anything to write home about either. Simply put, they feel sluggish and restrictive.
The dynamism and range of freedom exhibited by Omnimovement, on the other hand, could be a major step up. What's even more interesting is that Omnimovement isn't really a foreign concept to Rockstar Games.
As many have been pointing out since COD Black Ops 6's gameplay reveal, the diving and range of motion showcased greatly resemble that of Rockstar Games' 2012 release - Max Payne 3. That title's gunplay is acclaimed by many as the best ever seen in a third-person shooter.
Hence, Rockstar Games shouldn't face much trouble incorporating an Omnimovement-like system in GTA 6, since it has already implemented something very similar several years before COD Black Ops 6.
Aside from all the technological aspects, the inclusion of such a dynamic system is also something fans deserve. This is because Grand Theft Auto 6 will arrive around 12 years after the launch of GTA 5.
The regular GTA Online updates have mostly been entertaining, but the next title desperately requires fresh and exciting mechanics to truly feel like a sequel.
Notably, the GTA 6 leaks from September 2022 also suggested that crouching and even proning could be a part of the upcoming Rockstar Games title. However, these mechanics are yet to be officially confirmed.
