GTA Online is about to turn 11 years old in a few weeks and the game has clearly shown signs of its age, especially on old-gen consoles and PC. Recently, a Reddit user named KARWEE (u/KARWEEreddit) shared a gameplay video on the r/gtaonline subreddit showing the game lagging on PlayStation 4. They wrote:
“The current state of PS4 lobbies. It’s almost unplayable.”
The video showed a very laggy gameplay experience where environmental objects such as cars suddenly appeared on the road. Even when the player was standing still, the game continued to spawn objects obstructing the continuity.
Many other players also reported similar issues in the comments. According to the community, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles sometimes make NPCs drive weirdly in GTA Online. At times, you can also spot objects spawning at unusual locations.
On the other hand, PC lobbies are notorious for both lags and modder infestations. Many users shed light on the bizarre experiences they had on PC. Notably, a weak stance against modders is one of the biggest mistakes Rockstar made in GTA Online.
A user named szules (u/szules) commented that the game had the same issue on PS5.
However, some old-gen players commented that their gameplay did not lag like it was shown in the video.
Readers should note that the developer removed the Rockstar Editor from GTA Online on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in February 2024, citing compatibility issues. However, the game continues to lag for many players.
