A new GTA 5 Liberty City mod has been garnering a lot of praise from the Grand Theft Auto fanbase recently. It adds the map of Liberty City from GTA 4 to the story mode of Rockstar Games' 2013 title, and fans seem very impressed with the level of detail. Many have shared screenshots and videos on social media, exploring Grand Theft Auto's New York-inspired setting in Grand Theft Auto 5's story mode.
For instance, X user @Yan2295 uploaded a short clip of themselves playing as Franklin Clinton in Liberty City, and captioned it:
"This is peak GTA 4 vibe"
Another fan, @GTASixInfo, shared several screenshots of the GTA 5 Liberty City mod, mentioning some of its impressive features in the tweet:
Here's another clip from X user @SynthPotato, who described the mod as a "dream come true".
X user @videotechuk_ observed some rather intricate details this mod features, such as the original car engine sounds from GTA 4, and the beating heart in the Statue of Happiness, the latter being one of the most infamous Easter Eggs in Rockstar's 2008 release.
In fact, as shown in the following clip, the mod even includes the popular swing glitch from Grand Theft Auto 4:
The mod is absolutely free and can be downloaded from its official Disord server: World Travel. However, keep in mind that it is only intended for Grand Theft Auto 5's story mode, and must not be used in GTA Online. Using any type of mod in the title's multiplayer mode can result in account suspensions or bans.
Brief details of the new GTA 5 Liberty City mod
The Liberty City mod, officially named The Liberty City Preservation Project, can be installed to add Grand Theft Auto 4's map to GTA 5's story mode. Post installation, players can travel to the map either by pressing F11 on the keyboard, or from LSIA, which plays a cutscene of a plane taking off and landing in Liberty City.
This modded map replaces the default Grand Theft Auto 5 map when loaded in or traveled to, which should help with in-game performance. The GTA 5 Liberty City mod not only features NPCs but also certain interiors from GTA 4, along with traffic consisting of cars from the 2008 title. Even the pause menu map switches to that of Liberty City (with some icons) when it is loaded in.
The X posts attached above have pointed out some of its other minute details, and fans seem to be loving all of it, especially while waiting for any new update or information about GTA 6 from Rockstar Games.
