Cam Talbot may be on the move once again. After a stellar last season with the Minnesota WIld, it became apparent that there were “too many cooks in the kitchen,” and that Talbot would have to be traded. Bull Guerin made a one-for-one swap with the Ottawa Senators for Filip Gustavsson.

The trade turned out how the Senators hoped, and with Talbot on the last year of his contract, the Senators will likely trade Talbot before the NHL Trade Deadline this week.

Kevin Weekes, who has a close personal relationship with Cam Talbot’s agent, took to Twitter Sunday afternoon and announced three teams as true contenders for Talbot's services, the Los Angeles Kings, Vegas Golden Knights, and the Calgary Flames.

Let’s take a look at each contending team’s potential trade offer for Cam Talbot

Trade Option 1

Los Angeles Kings Acquire: Cam Talbot

Ottawa Senators Acquire: Jonathan Quick, 2023 3rd Round Pick

The Los Angeles Kings trade is pretty straightforward. The Kings recently extended surprise standout Pheonix Copley, meaning he will be off the table in a trade.

That leaves franchise cornerstone Jonathan Quick, who may have to be moved if the Kings want to bring in Talbot as an upgrade. The Kings will have to throw in something extra too, as Quick’s deal expires after this season.

Trade Option 2

Vegas Golden Knights Acquire: Cam Talbot

Ottawa Senators Acquire: Adin Hill, Jonas Rondbjerg

Here’s a fun prospect, with Talbot going to the team that he had to stand on his head against in the playoffs two years ago. The return is similar to the Kings, although I think that the Golden Knights would be more primed to trade a prospect rather than a draft pick. They may have to deal a goalie with a little more term too like Adin Hill. Hill would have more of a long-term benefit than Quick to the Senators.

Trade Option 3

Calgary Flames Acquire: Cam Talbot

Ottawa Senators Acquire: Daniel Vladar, Ilya Solovyov, 2023 6th Round Pick

The Flames are the most interesting prospect, as they are probably the team on this list least desperate for a goaltender. The Flames Jacob Markstrom is still on the top of his game, and getting Talbot would be a pretty nice safety net for the playoffs.

Daniel Vladar would be a fascinating return for the Senators, a goalie they might be able to develop into something for the future. Add in a prospect and a late-round pick and the Flames have a pretty impressive package that doesn’t kill their chances this season or in the future.
