The 2024-25 regular season schedule was released by the National Hockey League (NHL), and it will begin on October 4, 2024 and end on April 17, 2025. NHl 2024-2025 season Key Dates

The 2024-25 NHL season will start in Europe on Friday, October 4, with the Buffalo Sabres playing the New Jersey Devils in the 2024 NHL Global Series at O2 Arena in Prague, Czechia. North America's season opener will take place on Tuesday, October 8, featuring a tripleheader broadcast exclusively on ESPN. The Florida Panthers will raise their Stanley Cup championship banner before playing the Boston Bruins at Amerant Bank Arena. Other games on October 8 include the St. Louis Blues against the Seattle Kraken and the Chicago Blackhawks facing the Utah Hockey Club.

TNT's season debut is set for Wednesday, October 9, with a doubleheader featuring the New York Rangers visiting the Pittsburgh Penguins, followed by the Vegas Golden Knights hosting the Colorado Avalanche. Six Canadian teams are in action that same night, including the Toronto Maple Leafs playing the Montreal Canadiens, the Winnipeg Jets facing the Edmonton Oilers, and the Calgary Flames visiting the Vancouver Canucks. These games will be broadcast on Sportsnet.

Monday, October 14, will feature the first game on Prime Video as part of its Prime Monday Night Hockey programming, with the Canadiens hosting the Penguins. Prime Video will offer 26 broadcasts in Canada on Mondays throughout the season.

The 2024-25 NHL regular season will include 1,312 games, with each team playing 82 games. The season will conclude on Thursday, April 17. Four teams will participate in the NHL Global Series, with the Sabres and Devils opening their season in Prague, and the Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers playing regular-season games in Tampere, Finland, on November 1 and 2.

All 32 teams will be in action on Tuesday, October 22. A rematch of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers will occur on December 16 in Edmonton, with a follow-up game in Florida on February 27. The Discover NHL Winter Classic will take place on December 31, featuring the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks outdoors at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada is scheduled for January 18, featuring all seven Canadian teams in action. The NHL will also pause from February 12 to 20 for the 4 Nations Face-Off, an international tournament featuring players from Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States. The Columbus Blue Jackets will host the Detroit Red Wings outdoors on March 1, 2025, at Ohio Stadium for the Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series.
