Claude Giroux is a Canadian ice hockey forward, currently playing for the Ottawa Senators. He was picked 22nd overall in the 2006 NHL entry level draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. In the 2011-12 season, Giroux demonstrated his scoring prowess, tallying 93 points (28 goals, 65 assists), the highest by a Flyers player since 1998-99. Transitioning from center to left wing in the 2017-18 season, he achieved an NHL career-best 102 points (34 goals, 68 assists) in 82 games, finishing second in the scoring race to Connor McDavid. This performance marked the most points in a season by a Philadelphia player since 1995-96. Giroux earned recognition as an NHL Second-Team All-Star and secured fourth place in Hart Trophy voting for the league's most valuable player.

Celebrating a milestone, Giroux played his 1,000th NHL game, all with the Flyers, on March 17, 2022, joining the ranks of Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Clarke as the only player to achieve this feat with Philadelphia. Shortly thereafter, on March 19, 2022, Giroux was traded to the Florida Panthers after 15 seasons with the Flyers, with the last 10 as captain. Transitioning to a new chapter, Giroux signed a three-year, $19.5 million contract with the Ottawa Senators on July 13, 2022. He reached another milestone by securing 1,001 points in the NHL on April 10, 2023, with two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes.
