Sidney Crosby, born on August 7, 1987, is a Canadian professional ice hockey center and captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was the first overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Penguins. Considered one of the greatest ice hockey players, Crosby had a stellar junior career with Rimouski Océanic before making his debut in the NHL. Debuting in the NHL, Sidney Crosby quickly made his mark, earning 102 points in his rookie season and finishing as Calder Trophy runner-up. He also became the youngest player (18 years and 253 days) to reach the 100-point mark in an NHL season. By his second season, he led the league with 120 points, winning the Art Ross Trophy, Hart Memorial Trophy, and Lester B. Pearson Award.

Crosby became the Penguins' captain in 2007 and led them to the 2008 and 2009 Stanley Cup Finals, winning the latter and becoming the youngest captain in NHL history to hoist the Cup. In 2009-10, he won the Mark Messier Leadership Award and the Maurice Richard Trophy. Crosby faced setbacks due to a concussion in 2011 but rebounded in 2014 by winning the Hart Trophy, Art Ross Trophy, and the Ted Lindsay Award. He guided the Penguins to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 2016 and 2017, earning the Conn Smythe Trophy in both years. Crosby secured his second Maurice Richard Trophy in 2017 and was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history.
