Mika Zibanejad is a Swedish professional ice hockey center in the NHL and is currently serving as an alternative captain for the New York Rangers. He began his NHL career with the Ottawa Senators as a sixth overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

After his selection by the Ottawa Senators, Mika joined them for the 2011-2012 season. However, in this season, he played only 9 games with the Senators, scoring just one point. Later, he went back to Djurgårdens IF in Sweden for a brief time. Due to NHL Lockout, Mika spent the 2012-2013 season with Binghamton Senators, an affiliated team of Senators in the AHL. He returned to the NHL in January 2013 and hit his first goal against the Montreal Canadiens.

Mika's game continued to improve steadily and in the 2015-2016 season, he achieved a milestone with 21 goals and 30 assists. In 2016, Mika was traded to the New York Rangers and with this shift, he began a new chapter in his professional journey.

The following year, he joined the AIK ID's youth program, where he embarked on his hockey career. His performance in the youth program caught the attention of Djurgårdens IF and played for their J18 and J20 teams for the 2009-2010 season. Mika debuted in the Swedish Ice Hockey League on December 7, 2010, and marked his great performance there.

Mika also played in the KHL, where the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl drafted him in the 2010 KHL Junior draft. In 2011, he signed a 2-year contract with Djurgården and became a regular there. Mika showcased great skills and potential there and his achievements made him one of the most successful junior players under the age of 18, playing with the senior team.
