Bo Horvat scored his first goal since being traded to the New York Islanders from the Vancouver Canucks last week. The goal came during the second period of the game against the Seattle Kraken. The Islanders managed to win the game, 4-0. without allowing a goal.

The Isles scored two goals in the first period. The first was by defenseman Samuel Bolduc, eight minutes into the game when he slapped a shot from near the halfway line and the puck somehow managed to dodge all the players to find its way in the back of the net. It was Bolduc's 1st career NHL goal and point.

Forward Simon Holstrom scored the second goal minutes before the end of the first period when he got a clear shot on goal to make it 2-0.

Zach Parise made it 3-0 for the Isles, three minutes into the 2nd period with an assist from Jean-Gabriel Pagueau, who had two assists in the game. Less than two minutes later, Mathew Barzal squared a pass to an open Bo Horvat whose shot went into the top right corner, giving the newest addition to the team, his first goal as an Islander.

Ilya Sorokin shut down the Detroit Red Wings' offense completely. He made 31 saves in his 15th career and his second consecutive shutout (not conceding a goal). Sorokin is in fourth place on the Islanders' all-time shutout list and is trailing only Rick DiPietro (16), Billy Smith (22), and Chico Resch (25) per NHL PR.

The Islanders have been great defensively this season, all thanks to the goalie duo of Ilya Sorokin and Semyon Varlamov, who have allowed only two goals past them in their last four games.

Bo Horvat's first game against his old team

Within weeks of being traded from the Vancouver Canucks, Bo Horvat, and his Islanders will butt heads on Thursday. This will be the first time Horvat will play against the Canucks since becoming their star and captain, ever since he was drafted into the league in 2013.

Horvat was traded to the Islanders in exchange for forwards Anthony Beauvillier and Aatu Raty, as well as a conditional first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. Horvat even signed an 8-year/ $68 million extension with the Islanders.

Both teams are currently placed in sixth position in their respective divisions and will be looking to win.
