Jonathan Quick is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets. He was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets this season. He was previously the most reputed goalie on the NHL team, the Los Angeles Kings. Quick was selected by Los Angeles in the third round, 72nd overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Jonathan Quick married Jaclyn Quick in 2009. They have a daughter and a son. Their bond is strong, as they have been married for 13 years. Back in the 2020-2021 NHL season, their daughter introduced him as the starting goalie.

Jonathan was coached by Mike (Jaclyn's father) while playing youth hockey in Connecticut from the age of nine until he was 18. This is also how Jonathan met his best friend, Sean, who played on the same team. Sean is also Jaclyn's brother.

Jonathan Quick and his wife like to stay relatively quiet when it comes to their personal lives. However, Jaclyn's interest in ice hockey is undeniable. Jaclyn was a Merrimack College hockey player. She usually went to watch his brother Sean play, where she also saw Jonathan. Back then, she had no idea Jonathan would become her future husband. Jaclyn Quick is 36 years old, and Jonathan is now 37. Jaclyn was spotted skating back in 2014 alongside her husband Jonathan and daughter.

Jonathan Quick's NHL career and stats

Quick holds the goaltending record for the Los Angeles Kings. Quick holds nearly every significant franchise record for goalies, whether it is a regular-season or postseason mark.

Quick's time with the Kings has been about much more than individual accomplishments. Milford, a Connecticut native, has helped Los Angeles win the Stanley Cup twice. The first championship came in 2012, the same year Quick played in his first NHL All-Star Game. He was named the NHL's second All-Star Team, was a Vezina Trophy finalist, and was named playoff MVP.

Quick is an aggressive, low-to-the-ice goalie who enjoys challenging shooters. He relies on superb post-to-post athleticism. Jonathan Quick was drafted by Los Angeles in the third round (No. 72) of the 2005 NHL Draft. He was drafted after spending two seasons at the University of Massachusetts before a relatively quick rise through the ECHL and the American Hockey League. On December 6th, 2007, he made his NHL debut against the Buffalo Sabres, stopping 15 of 17 shots in a win. He appeared in three games for Los Angeles that season.

Quick earned his first NHL shutout as a rookie in 2008-09, stopping 24 shots in a 3-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on December 23rd, 2008. Jonathan Quick appeared in 44 NHL games that season, setting a rookie record with four shutouts and finishing third among first-year NHL goalies. He had 21 wins, a 0.914 save percentage, and a 2.48 goals-against average.

In 2009-10, Quick set franchise records with 72 appearances and 71 starts. His 39 victories were the team record until he broke it six years later. Quick made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in 2010, stopping 41 of 44 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks in Game 1 of the first round.

He led all goalies in the 2012 playoffs with 16 wins, a 1.41 GAA, and a 0.946 save percentage as the Kings won their first championship since joining the NHL in 1967. Jonathan Quick won the Jennings Trophy two years later, assisting the Kings to their second regular-season title.

After a lower-body injury, he returned in 2017-18 to win the Jennings Trophy as the Kings allowed the fewest goals in the league. In 64 appearances, he was 33-28-3 with a 2.40 goals-against average, 0.921 save percentage, and five shutouts (63 starts).

Jonathan Quick had a minor league moment for the ages on Oct. 24th, 2007. He became only the second goaltender in ECHL history to earn his first win, first shutout, and score a goal in the same game.

On March 1st, 2023, he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo. Columbus received a conditional first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft and a third-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
