The Habs overpowered the Capitals on a very special night for the franchise and its fans.

Martin Necas scored the third for the Hurricanes, ripping a shot from distance, which blazed past the Capitals' defense. It was the best goal of the night.

Teuva Teravainen secured the victory by scoring the fourth of the night after receiving a beautiful pass from Martin Necas in front of goal to make it 4-0. Tom Wilson got one back for the Capitals midway through the third period, but it was too late for them to make a comeback.
