The Ottawa Senators are currently placed sixth in the Atlantic Division with 81 points after playing 78 games. The team has faced its own challenges throughout the season and has had 37 wins, 34 losses, and 7 overtime losses.
Despite their setbacks, the Senators have shown determination and resilience in their efforts to compete. While they may not have always come out on top, the team has managed to maintain a consistent roster and has standout players such as Thomas Chabot and Brady Tkachuk.
Overall, the Senators have had a decent performance this season, but still have room for improvement to climb up in the division standings.
Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot placed on Injured reserve
The Ottawa Senators will be without defenseman Thomas Chabot for the remainder of the 2022-23 season due to an upper-body injury. Head coach D.J. Smith announced on Wednesday. Chabot suffered the injury in the team's recent game against the Montreal Canadiens and will be out of action for two weeks, according to Ian Mendes of The Athletic.
This is a significant loss for the Senators, as Chabot has been an integral part of the team's defense this season. The Quebec native has notched points in five of his last six games, including two power-play assists. Losing him for the rest of the season is a major blow to the team's playoff hopes.
With Chabot sidelined, the Senators will turn to youngster Tyler Kleven to fill the void. Kleven, who was selected 44th overall by Ottawa in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, will make his NHL debut in Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Ottawa Senators defenseman Jakob Chychrun placed on Injured reserve
Jakob Chychrun of the Ottawa Senators has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. According to TSN 1200 Ottawa, he will be out of commission for 2-3 weeks.
Chychrun's ability to return before the end of the 2022-23 season is uncertain. The 24-year-old defenseman missed Friday's practice and was also absent from Saturday's game against the New Jersey Devils.
Since joining the Senators from the Arizona Coyotes on March 1. Chychrun has recorded two goals, five points, 30 shots on net, 27 blocked shots, and 12 hits in 12 games.
Ottawa Senators forward Derick Brassard placed on Injured reserve
The Ottawa Senators have announced that forward Derick Brassard will miss the rest of the 2022-23 season due to a broken fibula that required surgery on Saturday.
Brassard suffered the injury during Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The veteran center finished the season with 13 goals and 10 assists in 62 games.
With Brassard out, Ridly Greig will join the Senators' lineup as a replacement in the bottom six forward group for Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
