The Flames controlled the game from the start to lead in the eighth minute of the first period. However, John took the game away from the Flames with his saves as they struggled to score enough, while the Ducks pulled up three goals to end the game, 3-1.

The Flames were favorites to win the game, but Gibson's heroics made it in the headlines. NHL Twitter also reacted to it, along with a few others.

John Gibson did well in the second half of the season to provide his team with another win with a save percentage of 0.973. With this, he has recorded his third win in the previous five games while allowing less than three goals per game.

For comparison, if we take his previous stats, he struggled on the ice and conceded 3.89 games per game with a save percentage of 0.902. This is a welcome change for the team and has acted as a catalyst for most wins in the second phase of the season.

John Gibson's Career Overview

Gibson started his professional journey in the 2013 season with the Anaheim Ducks and has 423 games, averaging 57 minutes on the ice. He has made 11,837 saves while allowing an average of 2.89 goals per game with a save percentage of 0.913. He has won 180 games, including 24 shootout wins.

What's next for John Gibson and Anaheim Ducks next?

Gibson will look to continue his recent performances in the upcoming games while covering up a poor first half of the season. The team is almost out of the playoffs but can still finish on a high. Given that Gibson's role will be crucial, the team would like to get a similar effort from him in the upcoming games.

For the Ducks, all is not lost. With around 18 games left in the league stages, they can get a better finish if they maximize their return from these games. Having won five out of their last eight games, they look different as a team and are well-placed to end the season with a smile. It will also be a good test of the squad's strength ahead of next season. They can use it as a benchmark to make changes accordingly with the future in mind. With momentum in favor, the Ducks play the Nashville Predators next on March 12th, 2023.
