During the Sabres' game against the Devils on Friday, March 24, Buffalo Sabres star forward Tage Thompson collided with New Jersey Devils trade deadline acquisition Timo Meier.
Thompson appeared to be immediately affected by the collision, as the 25-year-old was hobbled to the bench during the first period of the game. He did, however, return to the ice during the second period, but the injury appeared to be lingering.
Buffalo Sabres head coach Don Granato spoke to the media following the game and provided an update on Thompson.
Don Granato said (via Buffalo Hockey Beat):
"It was clear and evident he could’ve not played the rest of that game the way he was moving. Two versions of Tage today, one was completely healthy and then all of a sudden, that happened that he was half speed from that point forward."
Tage Thompson had a goal in the Sabres' 5-4 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Friday. The injury status of the 25-year-old forward has not been revealed, and he is currently considered day-to-day.
Thomson is also questionable for the Sabres' next game against the New York Islanders on March 25. We'll have to wait for more information on Thompson's health from the Buffalo Sabres.
