"They don't score more than two goals"- NHL insider predicts Detroit will find it hard to score against Andrei Vasilevskiy

Andrei Vasilevskiy has been doing wonders for the Tampa Bay Lightning this season. The Lightning were defeated in the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals by the Colorado Avalanche. Tampa Bay is also vying for the Stanley Cup this season. The club currently sits in third place in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division.

The Lightning's goaltender, Andrei Vasilevskiy, has been outstanding this season. He has put up impressive goaltending stats for the club and is currently the league's fifth-best goalie. JP Peterson, an NHL insider, praised Vasilevskiy for his performances this season in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda.

According to JP Peterson:

"You put him right back in the net on Saturday against Detroit, and I'll bet a lot of money that they don't score more than two goals on Saturday. So they'll be fine. They'll be, like I said, with regards to hockey."

The TB Lightning are scheduled to play the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday (Feb. 25), and Peterson believes the Wings will be unable to score more than twice against Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Andrei Vasilevskiy's NHL journey

Andrei Vasilevskiv is a 25-year-old Russian ice hockey player who plays as a goltender for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League (NHL). He began his hockey career in the KHL with Salavat Yulaev Ufa and was picked seventh overall in the KHL Junior Draft in 2011.

In the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, the Lightning selected Andrei 19th overall. He was initially assigned to the AHL's Syracuse Crunch. The best day of his career came on December 16, 2014, when he made his official NHL debut for the Lightning in a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Since joining the team, Andrei Vasilevskiy has become the backbone of the club. He has appeared in 408 games in his NHL career and has a 2.51 goal-against-average and .919 save percentage. Andrei has been honored with the Vazina Trophy and Conn Smythe Trophy and is also a two-time Stanley Cup winner.

Andrei Vasilevskiy has played in 43 games for the Lightning. He has a 2.60 goals-against-average with a 0.916 save percentage, making him the fifth-best goaltender in the league this season.

It will be interesting to see how Vasilevskiy puts up his performances tonight when the Tampa Bay Lightning face the Detroit Red Wings at the Little Caesars Arena. The puck drop is scheduled for 8 pm ET.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Conference, on the other hand, is locked in a battle for two Wild Card playoff spots. Six teams are currently vying for the final two spots, with four teams tied on 64 points. It will be intriguing to see which two teams make the playoffs.
