It was a weekend to forget for the Tampa Bay Lightning, as the team was embarrassed by their conference rivals, the Carolina Hurricanes. The 6-0 loss came on the heels of a loss to the Buffalo Sabres, which pushed the Lightning to a five-game losing streak.
While the Carolina Hurricanes are one of the strongest teams in the Eastern Conference, fans and staff were shocked by the way that Tampa was humiliated. The Bolts were completely lifeless throughout the game, finishing with 14 shots on goal and zero in the second period.

NHL Insider JP Peterson of the JP Peterson Show did not shy away from stating how disappointing the Tampa Bay Lightning were in their loss to the Hurricanes:
"But man, they went to Carolina and got their ass kicked. They didn't have a shot in the second period. They were just awful and they couldn't even get the puck. It was so bad."
While the Lightning were able to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers last night at Amalie Arena in downtown Tampa Bay, some of the lingering issues still showed during the victory. One of the key issues has been the play of Vezina-winning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has not performed at the elite level the NHL is used to.

"Now, last night they beat the Flyers who are not good. But they beat that they got behind early on Vasey letting another softy which we were you know has been far too, too numerous this year," Peterson said of the victory last night.
Even though the Tampa Bay Lightning have been in a funk lately, the victory last night against the Philadelphia Flyers may spark the team to regain their championship form.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will see if their streak-ending victory changes the mentality of the team as they welcome the much stronger Vegas Golden Knights to Tampa Bay. The Golden Knights currently have a 38-20-6 record, so tonight's game will be a perfect measuring stick for the former champions.
Kucherov continues to perform for the Tampa Bay Lightning
Nikita Kucherov, one of the most elite scorers in the NHL, has continued to execute for the Lightning, sitting third in the league with 91 points. The Russian forward sits only behind Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl for the league's lead.
