Derek Grant opened the scoring sheet for the Ducks at 12:08 of the first period. Three minutes later, the Avalanche made their comeback with Bowen Bryam scoring a wrist shot at 15:43 to tie the game at one. Just eight seconds before the end of the first, Nathan MacKinnon sent the Avalanche to a 2-1 lead before heading into the second period.
Jack Johnson and Valeri Nichushkin both scored in the second period to give the Avalanche a 4-1 advantage before heading into the final period. Samuel Girard scored from a powerplay at 4:22 of the third period to sail the Colorado Avalanche to a perfect 5-1 win. With this win, the Colorado Avalanche are now a point behind Central Division leader the Minnesota Wild.
