Connor McDavid is enjoying a career-best season with the Edmonton Oilers.
He notched up two more goals during Wednesday's clash between Edmonton Oilers and Arizona Coyotes, taking his tally to 60 for the season.
McDavid's overtime winning goal came courtesy of a brilliant assist from Leon Draisaitl. McDavid currently leads the goalscoring charts for the NHL leaderboards this season.
The 26-year-old star forward has played in 72 games, racking up 138 points (60 goals and 78 assists). McDavid is averaging 22:46 minutes on the ice this season, with 62 power-play points. He has also scored 10 winning goals for the team this season.
With 10 games remaining on the schedule, here are three milestones McDavid can achieve this season.
#1. Join the 70-goal club
Only 8 players in NHL history have reached the 70-goal mark in a single season. Wayne Gretzky holds the record for the most goals in a season with 92. As of now, McDavid has scored 62 goals with 5 games remaining on the schedule.
The 26-year-old has a realistic shot at reaching 70 goals in the season, given his form. He would become just the 9th player in league history to accomplish this feat.
#2. Three consecutive Art Ross Trophies
Connor McDavid is currently atop the NHL leaderboard with 146 points on the season. If the leaderboard remains the same by the end of the season, Connor McDavid will be tied for third all-time with five Art Ross Trophies. The Oilers star will also become the first player to win three consecutive Art Ross Trophies since Wayne Gretzky.
#3. Connor McDavid could achieve the 150-point mark
McDavid has accumulated 146 points in 77 games this season. With 5 games left, the 26-year-old has a good shot at reaching the 150-point mark if he continues at the same pace. Should he achieve this, he will become the first player to reach 150 points in a single season since Mario Lemieux (161) since 1995-96. He would be just the sixth player in NHL history to reach this milestone.
