Erik Karlsson is an ice hockey player who is married to Melinda Currey. He is regarded as one of the best left-handed defensemen in NHL history.

Erik Karlsson and Melinda Currey decided to marry at the National Gallery of Canada in 2017. Karlsson got down on one knee and hid the ring in a pepperoni pizza for the couple's wedding.

When Melinda Currey became pregnant for the first time in 2018, the couple faced the most difficult time of their lives. The couple lost their first child just a month before his due date.

The couple opened up about the stillborn birth of their son, whom they named Axel, expressing their hopes that they would one day be reunited.

Erik Karlsson was not on the ice during Tuesday's game against the Florida Panthers, and the team later revealed that he lost his son just a month before his due date in mid-April. On Wednesday, Karlsson and his wife issued a joint statement in which they discussed the "difficult times" they are going through and thanked the NHL community for their support.

“At this extremely difficult time it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but we know one day we’ll get there,” the statement begins. “We would like to thank everyone for the love and support we have received and also for respecting our privacy and the process that we need to go through.”

The couple first revealed that they were expecting their first child together in November. Following the tragic news, many NHL fans and celebrities have reached out to the couple to express their condolences.

Melinda Currey has always performed admirably in school. She was a goal-oriented person who worked hard to achieve her objectives.

Melinda's education began at Hillcrest High School. She graduated from Carleton University in Ontario in 2010 with a communication degree and a minor in psychology. Melinda chose Algonquin College to further her studies in French.

Presently, Melinda is the chief marketing officer at Wellington Creative, an advertising agency that specializes in turning ideas into realities. On top of that, Melinda also runs an NGO “Can’t Dim My Light”, which is for a great cause.
