Who is Oskar Steen? Meet the Boston Bruins prospect playing for Providence

Oskar Steen has been one of the most talked about Providence Bruins. The 25-year-old Swede could become an RFA for the Boston Bruins by the end of the 2023-24 season.

The ice star’s immense scoring skills and profound devotion to the game have led him from the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) in 2016 as the 165th entry draft to the American Hockey League (AHL) and now to the Bruins in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Steen made his professional career debut with the Farjestad BK in the SHL during the 2015-16 season. On May 3, 2019, the Boston Bruins finally noticed the up-and-coming ice player, thanks to his mind-blowing performances and impressive stats. The Bruins offered him an entry-level, three-year contract.

Oskar Steen’s ice hockey career took an interesting turn when he was offered a place on the Allsvenskan club IF Bjorkloven at the start of the 2020-2021 season while the Bruins were preparing their training camp.

Steen won the hearts of millions by scoring his first NHL point by assisting another ice star, Jake DeBrusk, who scored goals against the San Jose Sharks. In 2022, Steen scored his first NHL goal in a 5-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils.

One Glance at Oskar Steen's Career

Oskar Steen has appeared with Boston Bruins twice this season, helping to bring the team closer to a promising future at the end of the season. Recent updates tell that the 25-year-old ice hockey forward will reenter the lineup with David Krejci, aiming to build a better picture for his career with 31 points in the 62 AHL contests.
