The NHL All-Star Skills competition came and went on Friday night with a ton of memorable moments that fans will remember for ages. The event included several new challenges that could make a comeback in future years, such as the Tendy Tandem, Pitch and Putt, and NHL Splash Shot. Let’s go over all of the notable and memorable events from Friday night’s games!

Top moments from the NHL All-Star Skills

1. Sidney Crosby gets Dunked

Fans who dislike Sid the Kid got exactly what they wanted from the NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Friday night, getting to see Sidney Crosby fall into a dunk tank courtesy of the Colorado Avalanche’s Cale Makar during the Splash Shot. The Splash Shot was by all accounts a massive success, as players each took turns knocking down surfboards with their shots before hitting an NHL logo that would literally sink their competition.

2. Sergei Ovechkin

Easily winning the competition for most adorable moment of the night, was when Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby teamed up to give Alex’s four-year-old son, Sergei, the shot of his life. Sergei took the shot for the two legends of the last decade in the league, and scored five hole on hall of fame goaltender Roberto Luongo. The goal gave the three a perfect score of 40 and Alex Ovechkin’s fourth breakaway challenge title.

3. Nazem Kadri Stuns McDavid in Accuracy Shooting

In a competition where superstar Connor McDavid was the heavy favorite, accuracy shooting, Nazem Kadri stunned everyone in the building. In the qualifying round, McDavid clinched the top time in under 10 seconds, setting the second fastest record in NHL history, however it wouldn’t be enough, as in the semifinal, Nazem Kadri hit four targets on four shots faster than McDavid and walked away to the final.

4. Juuse Saros and Stuart Skinner Go Long in Tendy Tandem

In a brand new challenge where goalies would compete in shooting full ice shots for points both Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner and Predators goaltender Juuse Saros stole the show with full ice goals that hit a one foot opening in the goal to get three points for their respective teams. Who doesn’t love a good goalie goal?

5. Linus Ullmark is David Pastrnak’s Caddy

In the final, and most hilarious moment of the night, was during David Pastrnak’s Happy Gilmore parody, when Boston Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark came out of the locker room dressed in a fake beard and sporting a beer hat as a costume for Happy’s homeless caddy from the feature film. The dual performance by the two earned the runner-up spot in the breakaway challenge.
