Vladimir Tarasenko is a professional Russian ice hockey player. As of 2024, he plays as a right winger for the Detroit Red Wings. Tarasenko's playing career began in 2008-09 with Sibir Novosibirsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He scored seven goals and ten points in 38 games in his rookie season. He was also a runner-up in voting for Rookie of the Year in the KHL's inaugural season. Vladimir continued to improve in his second season with Sibir. He also helped Russia win a silver medal at the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships, where he was named a tournament all-star after scoring eight goals in seven games.

In 2010, Tarasenko was selected in the first round by the St. Louis Blues in the NHL Entry Draft. However, he remained in the KHL for two more seasons, playing for SKA Saint Petersburg. Vladimir finally joined the Blues for the 2012-13 NHL season. In 2019, Tarasenko helped the Blues win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. In 2023, he was traded to the New York Rangers. In the offseason, Tarasenko signed a one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators and was traded to the Florida Panthers on March 6, 2024.
