Match summary:
Sussex win by 8 wickets with 35 balls to spare
Daniel Hughes 35 (22) | James Coles 2/9 (2) Liam Livingstone 43 (35) | Liam Livingstone 1/17 (3)
A target of 115 was always going to be light work for Sussex at home, and while they took their time, the Sussex Sharks top-order got the job done with ample overs to spare. They killed the game off early itself - Harrison Ward and Daniel Hughes dug into the Lancashire pacers right away. It wasn't all brutal hitting - both left-handed openers hit the ball into gaps often and set the tone for the chase perfectly.
Wood broke the opening stand in his second over - Ward slashed one well outside off towards deep backward point, and even though there was a fumble, Dockrell held onto the chance in the deep. Hughes stepped in and kept going with the onslaught, and the Sharks had 63 by the end of the powerplay, needing the remainder of the runs well under a run-a-ball.
Luke Wells and Liam Livingstone kept things tight in the next few overs - the latter broke through with a leg-break, getting it to whizz through Hughes' bat and pad. Tom Clark and James Coles could afford to take their time - they did, milking the singles at will to go with the odd boundary. The duo got Sharks home eventually, and in some style.
And that is that! A first win for Sussex over Lancashire in T20 cricket, and they set up a home semi-final for themselves!
