Update 10:10 PM IST: Oh, no! Not good news, folks. The match has been abandoned due to wet outfield. It is official: this game has been called off without even the toss taking place. Yup, we've had a game called off at the United Arab Emirates due to rain.
Update 9:35 PM IST: We have some good news for you. The rains have stopped, but the outfield is still under covers. An inspection has been scheduled at 8:30 PM local time, which translates to 10 PM Indian Standard Time.
Update 9:25 PM IST: Still no good news to bring to you, folks. There is not a lot to report apart from the fact that the rains have not stopped. We have started losing overs now. Chances of a game taking place look bleak now.
Update 8:50 PM IST: It is still raining at the ground. Large parts of the surface are under covers. We will have to wait.
Update 8:20 PM IST: Still no good news, folks. The pitch is under covers.
Update 8 PM IST: Not good news, folks. The covers are still out there in the middle, and the rains have not let up. It is a good time to remind our viewers that we will start to lose overs only after 8:30pm IST.
Update 7 PM IST: You wouldn't believe it even if we type it out for you. It's...... raining....... in the United Arab Emirates! It was pouring down a few moments ago, but now, it has lightened a bit. The covers are on the pitches.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the 16th match of the International League Twenty20 competition between the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and the Gulf Giants from the Dubai International Cricket Stadium! I, Mohul Bhowmick, and my good friend Rajarshi Das, will be your guides for the day.
The Knight Riders languish at the bottom of the able with five defeats in a row, and this will trouble them greatly. They have some of the finest players in the world in their roster, and such a dismal return will disappoint the owners of their franchise. A lot rests upon the shoulders of their skipper Sunil Narine, as well as his Caribbean teammates Brandon King, Kennar Lewis and Andre Russell. Going by the name of the players on paper, it is inexplicable how they have managed to lose all the matches that they have played and have not managed to get even one point to their name.
The Giants, on the other hand, are positioned in the second position of the league table at the time of writing, with eight points to their name. They have won four games and lost one out of the five that they have played in so far. They will look to get another victory against their name when they take on the Knight Riders in this game in Dubai tonight. Led by James Vince, the Giants have a big-sized English contingent in their roster, including Liam Dawson, Tom Banton, Chris Jordan, Ollie Pope, Richard Gleeson, Jamie Overton and Rehan Ahmed.
This game promises to be an absolute cracker of a contest, however one-sided it may appear on the outset. Stay tuned till the very end!
