So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Aryasekhar Chakraborty as we wrap up the proceedings of this fixture. Do stay tuned to our coverage with cricketing action continuing as well starting with the MLC game between San Francisco Unicorns and Los Angeles Knight Riders at 6.00 AM tomorrow. Until next time, it is a warm good-bye.
Mohammad Nabi (Dambulla Sixers captain): Overall, it is a team performance. Not just mine or the openers. We discussed in the team meetings that we have to concede less boundaries. These are high scoring games but we wanted to bowl according to the ball. The spinners bowled well and the fast bowlers as well. Tried to bowl away from the batsmen's reach. Have to variate with pace as well.
Thisara Perera (Colombo Strikers captain): Actually, no. We know that it is a very good wicket. We were 20-25 runs behind. We have to think about future matches now. We have to score at least 200 runs on this track. We couldn't execute during the middle overs and that is why we ended up on the losing side.
Kusal Perera is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: Hopefully it's getting better. It's under treatment and hopefully it will be okay. My team needed me badly so had to play fearless cricket. Thanks to the team management for giving me the opportunity to perform in the LPL.
What an emphatic way to seal the first victory for Dambulla Sixers in LPL 2024. They win with 13 balls to spare and go above Kandy Falcons in the points table. The chase was almost sealed and delivered by the opening duo of Reeza Hendricks and Kusal Perera as they stitched 154-run partnership. Taskin Ahmed did send both back to the pavilion in the 15th over but it was too late by then.
The duo of Taskin and Matheesha Pathirana also didn't help the team as they combined to put down a regulation catch from Lahiru Udara in the 17th over. Eventually, Mark Chapman struck three sixes off five balls from Pathirana to complete a dominant performance.
17.5 Matheesha Pathirana to Mark Chapman, SIX! Chapman finishes it off in style. Pathirana bowls in the slotsville, around off and middle and Chapman holds his shape and smokes this up and over the long on fence. Dambulla Sixers win by 8 wickets with 13 deliveries to spare.
17.4 Matheesha Pathirana to Mark Chapman, on a fuller-length a shade outside off, driven straight to the cover fielder.
17.3 Matheesha Pathirana to Mark Chapman, SIX! That's an even better shot from Mark Chapman. He was up in the air when playing that stroke, short and wide outside off, Chapman's feet was up on the ground as he flays it away over the point boundary.
17.2 Matheesha Pathirana to Mark Chapman, SIX! That is all class from Mark Chapman. Pace on short of a length delivery around the chest height of Chapman, holds his shape and clubs it flat and hard comfortably clearing the deep square leg fence.
17.1 Matheesha Pathirana to Lahiru Udara, a leg stump yorker which has been jammed away towards the square leg region for a single.
Nine runs off the over but that doesn't show how good Binura Fernando bowled. Lahiru Udara should have been caught if not for a comedy of errors from Taskin Ahmed and Matheesha Pathirana.

16.6 Binura Fernando to Lahiru Udara, low full toss around the middle stump, nudged away towards the long on region and rolls the strike over.
16.5 Binura Fernando to Mark Chapman, slower back of a length delivery into middle, bunted away towards the square leg region and rolls the strike over.
16.4 Binura Fernando to Lahiru Udara, cuts away the length delivery a shade outside off, down towards deep point and settles for a single.
16.3 Binura Fernando to Lahiru Udara, FOUR! That's the worst possible result for the Colombo Strikers. That was a pace-off good-length delivery around off, Udara moves across off and goes for the ramp, the short fine leg and the short third man fielders converge but it goes between the two of them and trickles away to the fence.
16.2 Binura Fernando to Mark Chapman, pace-off back of a length delivery around middle, pulled away from the bottom half of the bat down towards the midwicket fielder for a single.
16.1 Binura Fernando to Lahiru Udara, a check pull shot off a pace-off delivery into the surface, a shade outside off and the top edge doesn't find the square leg fielder, a single taken.
Five runs off Matheesha Pathirana's over. Dambulla Sixers need 26 runs off 24 balls now.
