We have been treated to a thriller in the first semifinal. Batting first England posted 231/7 thanks to fifties from George Thomas, George Bell and Alex Horton. Afghanistan started strongly in the chase as Allah Noor and Mohammad Ishaq put together a 93-run partnership. But once Noor got out things became tough for Afghanistan in the chase. The middle and the lower order batters kept chipping in wih runs but Afghanistan just could not finish off.

Tom Prest: I am exhausted. Credits to the lad that they kept cool. Things can change quickly in cricket. I am very proud of the team. The rain break came at the right time for us. We reassessed and realized that a score of 200 would be enough. I can't believe that I will be leading England in the final.

Suliman Safi: It is a difficult time for us. We discussed to play normal cricket in the post-match huddle. Winning and losing is part of cricket. Cricket has its up and down. But the momentum was with England when Noor got out. We have played good cricket. We are focusing on the next game.

George Bell is the Player of the Match.

George Bell: It was challenging facing the Afghan spinners. We tried targeting their seamers. I tried playing a few cheeky shots. It was about getting the ball to the boundary. It was just about staying calm as the team. We tried to not panic.

England hold their nerves and come out on top in a closely fought match to win the contest by 15 runs. England are through to their first final since 1998. It has been a long long wait for the young Lions. But take a bow Afghanistan. They made England work really hard for this win. They almost had this match in their grasp. Afghanistan delighted us with two hard-fought thrillers. The players shake hands and make their way back to the dressing room.

This match had all the drama you could have asked for from a 50-over cricket game.
