Right then. It's New Zealand vs Afghanistan in the second of the two doubleheaders today at the 'G. That contest, of course, is in for a delayed start with the rain still around. The twists and turns, the highs and lows, and the upsets of this game. The T20 World Cup this year has it all, doesn't it? After sending the West Indies back home, the Irish have upset England's applecart, scripting a famous win at the MCG. The ghosts of the 2011 World Cup come to haunt England again and this group has been thrown wide open as a result. The party in Ireland will go long into the night as their team comes up big against their arch rivals.

Andrew Balbirnie is the Player of the Match. Here's what the Ireland captain has to say: We were slightly disappointed finishing the way we did. We lost like seven wickets for not a lot and they took the momentum away from us. Our message was just about creating chances. We know how this England team like to play and if we can take every chance we get, we'll be able to be in there with a shout. (Top order) Obviously England have got some express pace and it was difficult with the variations. We managed to ride our luck a bit and moved forward. The platform was well laid by Tucker, who played really well. We were able to get a competitive total and a winning total in the end. It's amazing [what we have achieved]. It's kind of emotional. We've never played a game of cricket here (at the MCG). To come here against one of the tournament favorites with so many big names and put on a show for our friends, family and a number of people around the world is very satisfying. We had a great week in Hobart last week and then to do this in one of the most cricketing grounds in the world is pretty special. (Fans) They're so passionate for the game in Ireland and we're continuing to try and days like today will hopefully we'll get a few more in the future. We've got Afghanistan coming up soon. It's a quick turnaround. We're taking a bit of momentum with us and hopefully can keep it going. (Areas to work on) We're fortunate the catching didn't cost us hugely today. It was a mad over, that Dockrell over, but we managed to get the wicket we needed. The way the tournament works itself out so quick. We'll be ready for Friday.

Jos Buttler (England captain): (Where they lost the game?) Especially in the first ten overs. We were poor and a long way short of where we needed to be and let Ireland get away. (What went wrong with the bowling) We weren't consistent enough. We let them score on both sides of the wicket. There were some favorable conditions for bowling as well. We had everything in our favor, winning the toss and electing to field, knowing that there was the weather around. We didn't take advantage of that. The second ten overs was much better. We let Ireland have 20-30 runs too many in the first ten and we were under pressure to try and restrict them. They showed us how to bowl on that wicket. (Batting?) Myself getting out in the first over, that's never ideal. It puts pressure on. We never managed to grab the initiative. They bowled well and use the wicket well but again, we never quite managed to wrestle that initiative. The ran was always going to get heavier and heavier, wasn't it? We won the toss and chose to bowl, knowing exactly what we need to do with the bat if it did rain. We didn't take advantage of that. (Word on Ireland) They outplayed us in all three departments. The better team won today. (Next game) We've made a mistake here and that's put even more pressure on us in a tough group. If we needed a game to get up for and must-win game, England vs Australia at the MCG is certainly one of those.

Scenes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as Ireland conquer the England juggernaut and put them to the sword to script a famous victory. Yes, the rain interruptions played a part but don't let that take anything away from the kind of performance they've put in. Wonderful scenes as the players embrace their families and the rest of the limited crowd in the stands.

It was Andrew Balbirnie who set things up for his side with a responsible half-century. Ireland had a collapse to forget with the bat but still managed to get enough on the board to put on a fight. In response, they ticked all the right boxes with the ball in the Powerplay, dismissing the England top order cheaply.

Joshua Little started the party as he got rid of the two openers with Fionn Hand dismissing Stokes to peg England back. Malan and Brook struggled in the middle overs and failed to inject any sort of impetus into the innings which resulted in England falling well behind their required run rate.

A couple of dropped catches seemed like they would prove to be costly at one stage for Ireland but it was their day in the end. Moeen Ali came in late with a bit of a flourish and was just starting to tee off before the rain intervened and threw a spanner on England's work.

This result throws the group wide open. There should be plenty of emotion at the presentations. Stick around.

*tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock* The rain has intensified and that will be that! Ireland have won by five runs! An anticlimatic end to the game but it won't matter to Ireland. They've held their nerve and managed to script a famous and memorable win, much to the delight of their fans.

18:50 local time, 13:20 IST: Only five minutes to play with now, mentions Nasser Hussain on air. It's a twitchy Englan dugout at the moment but they're helpless at this stage. Ireland are on the brink of a special result but there's nothing else they can do but wait either. The drizzle is steady.

18:45 local time, 13:15 IST: If the game can't restart by 18:56 local time, it will be Ireland who will win this contest. Essentially, England will hope the game resumes in 10 minutes' time. That's not beyond the realms of possibility but is seeming increasingly unlikely at the moment.

Balbirnie and Buttler have a chat. One of them will want to get back on the field eagerly, while the other might not be so keen. No prizes for guessing which is which.
