A lopsided match. How well have Colombo Stars responded on the return of their skipper Angelo Mathews. They bowled well to restrict Galle Gladiators in the chase. Kusal Mendis scored a brave 60 and was the lone fighting effort in the Galle Gladiators' chase. The wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals for the Gladiator and as a result, they were skittled out for a mere 121. The Colombo Stars bowlers were exceptional. Naveen-ul-Haq bowled a fine spell of 3/27. Ravi Rampaul and Seekkuge Prasanna had two wickets each.

Earlier, Colombo Stars ended with a healthy 162/7. Colombo Stars' captain Angelo Mathews won the toss and opted to bat first. Mathews on his comeback into the side after an injury layoff promoted himself at the top of the batting order, opening the innings alongside Pathum Nissanka. The Stars has a slow start as Nissanka was dismissed early and Mathews failed to connect the first few deliveries of his innings. But once Mathews got the hang of the things, Mathews made the opportunity count as he blasted 73 from 57 balls, completing his 10th T20 fifty. The wickets kept tumbling from the other end. But lower down the order, Dinesh Chandimal continued from where he left last night and played an entertaining cameo of 36 from mere 14 deliveries. It was a tough night for the Galle Gladiators' bowlers. The two bowlers who stood out were Samit Patel and Dhananjaya Lakshan. Both bowlers picked two wickets each.

Chandimal: Over the moon about my performance. I was left out of the first LPL draft. So happy and thankful for the team to have trust on me. I went back to the old Chandi. A bit of mindset from me. I will donate my prize money for the charity.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa (Galle Gladiators captain): It was a 140-run wicket. We gave some 20 runs extra. The due is an excuse. We did not bowl well. We have to adapt to the conditions. Chandimal played well today.

Angelo Mathews (Colombo Stars captain): It was brilliant. It was a good team effort. I am still not 100 percent hence I could not run well in between the wickets. I was able to run a little bit.

Colombo Stars complete a rout over Galle Gladiators. The Stars win by 41 runs to notch only their second win of the season. They are still a far way off from qualifying for the knockouts but this win could boost their confidence. The Stars move to the fourth spot on the points table leaving Kandy Warriors behind on the fifth spot. The return of Angelo Mathews has surely made a lot of difference in the side.
