Well, that has ended rather quickly for the Mechelen Eagles! They have put up a shocking batting performance against the last year's European finalists Hornchurch and have been bundled out for a paltry score of 52 with 15 deliveries to spare.

Chasing a score of 131, Mechelen kept losing wickets from the first over itself and they just could not stem the flow of wickets until all of it came to an end for them in. Billy Gordon started it off with some pace and bounce in the first over and everyone chipped in for the Hornchurch team with Harry Hankins getting a hat-trick. Billy Gordon got 3 wickets and the job was finished by the skipper Marc Whitloc who scalped 2 wickets in the end to polish off the tail. The batting performance was so dismal that Shakerullah was the only batter to get into double figures for them.

Earlier, Hornchurch had got to 130 on the back of a half-century from Lesbourne Edwards as well as contributions from the likes of Adeel Malik. They were looking at a much bigger score at one stage only to be bought down tamely in the second half of their innings by Arafat Afghan who got a fifer and registered the best figures of 5/12 in ECL history. Mechelen were poor in the field and dropped multiple catches which eventually proved to be the difference with Hornchurch putting up a spectacular display of fielding.
