We now come to the conclusion of our coverage of the third T20 International between India and Australia. A Glenn Maxwell special keeps the Aussies in the series with two games to play. Both sides will head to the centre of the country - Raipur - for the 4th T20I on Friday. Keep an eye on our tabs for our coverage of the same, and as always, a whole lot more - there's plenty of cricket lined up as we head towards the final month of the year! This is Rajarshi, signing off on behalf of Shashwat. Good night - see you tomorrow!
Glenn Maxwell is the Player Of The Match - of course he is! Here's what he has to say: It all went pretty quickly. We knew that it was going to be hard to bowl yorkers, didn't quite have a number targeted, thought of giving ourselves a chance going into the last over. We did really well to keep ourselves in the game till the end. Axar had one over left, so Wadey had to be out there to cash in. He played that role really well, I was trying to take the pacers on. Struggled a little bit, but Wadey controlled the other end and got me through the backend of the innings.
Matthew Wade, Australia captain: You don't get much better chases than that. Hard work getting those 20 overs in, getting the injury later to Kane - was always going to be tough. One of the best players playing his 100th T20 game, was always going to be special for him. Confidence wasn't my first thought after the first 20, I thought we were in the game with 190 going into the final over. Unfortunately the last over went for a big one. Tim said that you can back yourself and chase anything down here. We got it done today. We had five overs left, Kane hurt himself, I was one over short, hoped we'd get a wicket and get an over from Maxi. We didn't get that wicket, and went for a few runs. All in good fun, Maxi wouldn't get a 100 if he didn't go for that much! A few new faces will come in with a few of our players heading home, good opportunity for them. Hopefully we can pinch another one and get it down to the last game.
Suryakumar Yadav, India captain: Just to get Maxi out (on plans at the break). To defend 200-210 with so much dew, you got to give something to the bowlers. We played with heavy dew at Trivandrum, they lost wickets early on so they couldn't reach, but wickets in hand for them meant they were always in the game. That was insane from Maxwell. I wanted to let Axar bowl in the end, he has experience bowling at the death. With heavy dew, there's always a chance with an experienced bowler. (On Ruturaj's knock) Fantastic, he's a special player. Very proud of my boys.
Jason Behrendorff: It is remarkable (the number of runs that have been scored). Remarkable game of cricket. Do not have many words to express what happened. (On bowling in Guwahati) A happy hunting ground (for me). Fortunate enough to take wickets here. If I can bottle this ground up and take it with me, it will be great (smiles). (What their objective is in this series) Obviously it is to win the series and we are one step closer now. Whenever you put on an Australia shirt, you think about winning. Hopefully we can carry this momentum to Friday. I would give it to Maxi, he carried us over the line. 100 in his 100th T20 game, I would give it to him.
Match summary:
Australia win by 5 wickets off the last ball
Glenn Maxwell 104*(48) | Jason Behrendorff 1/12 (4) Ruturaj Gaikwad 123*(57) | Ravi Bishnoi 2/32 (4)
You can't help but admire this Australian side. Time and again, they conjure something completely mind-boggling out of the blue and leave people dumbstruck. While the side is a fresher one from the recently concluded World Cup, there still are a few familiar faces, and as it turned out, they were the ones who decided the outcome of this game!
While it was Travis Head who laid the foundation with a brisk start, it was Glenn Maxwell who steered the run-chase to perfection. He picked his bowlers, took his chances throughout the middle overs, and while he seemed to slow down towards the latter stages, he turned back up right when Australia needed him too! Matthew Wade too a whole lot of load off his shoulders as well - he took on a miserly Axar Patel with success, and pulled the momentum back towards the visitors.
Defending a total was no mean task. The Indian bowlers - the pacers in particular, found that out the hard way, missing their line and length on several occasions. The wide yorker was tried on several occasions by each of them - more so towards the latter stages, but that wasn't going to be effective against the might of Maxwell. There was one occasion where he took one of those on the volley and sliced it over the point boundary!
The spin duo of Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel were instrumental in pulling things back for India after the powerplay. While Maxwell kept going, Stoinis, who was looking to play second fiddle, was under immense pressure to kick on, and picked out Suryakumar at cover. The wicket of David soon after piled the pressure on Maxwell and Australia, but the maverick kept at it. The boundaries kept coming frequently in the middle overs, and while Prasidh delivered a quiet 18th over, he crumbled under pressure bowling the final one of the night. Presentations next...
Maverick Maxwell! Is there any situation he can't win a game for Australia? He went for 30 with the ball earlier today, but more than makes up for it! Australia are alive in the series, and it's down to a superhuman effort from a super human being!

19.6 Prasidh Krishna to Glenn Maxwell, MAXWELL FINISHES IT OFF THE ONLY WAY HE CAN! AUSTRALIA ARE ALIVE, THE T20I SERIES IS ALIVE! Another slot ball outside off, and this is right up Maxwell's alley. Uses the depth of the crease, swings through the line and clatters it over the bowler's head. Prasidh has given away 68 runs in four overs, and Australia, after being 134-5 at one stage, have pulled off an incredible heist!
Kishan, Suryakumar, and Gaikwad have gathered around the bowler for a chat. 1 ball, 2 runs. Square leg's still empty...
19.5 Prasidh Krishna to Glenn Maxwell, HUNDRED FOR MAXWELL! Loopy delivery that ends up being a juicy full toss outside off. Maxwell winds up and smears it past deep mid wicket for four. A 47-ball 100 for Maxwell, and Australia need just 2 off 1 now!
He's thrown the kitchen sink at it, and Maxwell finds the gap once again! Onto 96 now...6 needed off 2!
19.4 Prasidh Krishna to Glenn Maxwell, FOUR MORE! Short and wide outside off, and at this point, Prasidh might as well telegram it to Maxwell. Waits for the ball and then carves it over point!
Maxwell just knew that the wide yorker was coming with cover in the deep! 10 off 3 now, and the momentum's with Australia!
19.3 Prasidh Krishna to Glenn Maxwell, WHAT A SHOT UNDER PRESSURE! Dug in short outside off and Maxwell has pulled off a special, special stroke. Hangs back in his crease and scythes it over deep cover point!
Maxwell seems dissatisfied with something. Maybe someone's in front of the sightscreen.
19.2 Prasidh Krishna to Matthew Wade, full and wide outside off. Wade sits deep in his crease and powers it on the bounce to deep cover. A few yards either side, and that would have been four as well
Long on comes inside the circle. Square leg goes back. Matthew Wade is quietly playing a gem here...
19.1 Prasidh Krishna to Matthew Wade, STARTS THE OVER WITH A FOUR! Banged into the track on leg stump. Wade sizes it up nicely and smacks it over square leg for a boundary!
India need to have an extra man in the ring. They've failed to complete 19 overs in the allotted time.
