Rinku Singh is known for his explosive batting and finishing touches in the last overs of a cricket match. He has tremendous hitting ability and amazing talent for hitting sixes at will, which makes him stand in a different category of cricketers. He is the key face of KKR and Team India when it comes to finishing the game.
Rinku Singh Domestic Career
Rinku Singh made his debut in List A Cricket when he played for Uttar Pradesh Cricket for the first time in March 2014 at the age of 16. He was impressive in his debut as he remained the top scorer in that match with a score of 83 runs. Singh later made his first-class debut for the Uttar Pradesh team on 5 November 2016 and strung some useful innings for his state team.
In his first seven List A matches, Rinku had already scored four fifties and everybody knew that he had something special in him. Another notable performance by Rinku Singh in recent times came during Uttar Pradesh's Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 encounter where he played a sweltering knock of 44-ball 91* against Tripura.
Rinku, who made his name initially as more of a white-ball dasher, had a breakout season in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy where he piled up 953 runs in ten games at an average of 105.88 with four centuries and three fifties. He was the third-highest run-getter overall. The 26-year-old was suspended by the BCCI for three months in the year 2019 for participating in a foreign league.
Rinku Singh IPL Career
Owing to his impressive domestic performances, Rinku Singh was picked by Punjab Kings for INR 10 Lakhs in 2017. Although he did not get to play in the tournament, it certainly meant recognition of his talent.
In 2018, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League for INR 80 lakhs. Interestingly enough, he had fetched a price four times his base cap of INR 20 lakhs as teams battled to bag the services of the dasher. In the first three seasons with KKR, he got limited chances, playing 10 games in total and scoring 77 runs. He remained out of the entire 2021 IPL due to a knee injury.
Rinku Singh was retained by the KKR management in the 2022 IPL mega auction. He made his comeback for KKR through that season. He played 7 games and scored 174 runs at a decent strike rate of 148.72. He got his first Player of the Match award as well after he scored 42 runs in 23 balls against Rajasthan Royals. The 2023 IPL season was his breakthrough season. He played all 14 games and scored 474 runs at a blistering strike rate of 149.53. This was the same IPL season where his record-breaking inning came against Gujarat Titans. He hit 5 sixes in the final over to chase down 29 runs - the highest-ever chase in the last over in the tournament’s history. Rinku Singh International Career
It was natural for Rinku Singh, who had performed brilliantly in IPL and domestic cricket, to get a chance in international cricket. He made his T20I debut against Ireland in August 2023 and ODI debut against South Africa in December 2023.

Rinku Singh got a chance to show his skills in the ODI format against South Africa. He made his debut in Gqeberha, South Africa. He couldn’t perform with the bat as per the expectations of the fans but took his maiden ODI wicket (Rassie Van der Dussen). In the next ODI against South Africa, he scored 38 runs in just 27 balls and helped his team to get a comfortable win.

Because of his exceptional performance in IPL 2023, Rinku Singh was selected for India’s T20I team against Ireland. He made his debut in Dublin (Malahide), in Ireland but didn’t get a chance to bat. In the next game against Ireland, Rinku won his first International Player of the Match award for playing a quick-fire knock of 38 in just 21 balls.
