Commentary
India definitely are placed in a strong position after putting a mammoth score on the board and having South Africa 4 down at the end of day 2. Even thought this has been a resilient batting performance for the Proteas, they still have a long way to go. Tomorrow could well me the moving day and we will be there to narrate all the action to you. For now, this is Sourabh and Pradeep taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Sune Luus (South Africa): Today was one of the hardest sessions we had batting wise, conditions are something that you cannot train for back home, great challenge. Partnership up front from Laura and Anneke worked nicely after lunch. Myself and Kappy growing in confidence, Kappy is still staying at the end of the day, good day for us given the uneven bounce of the pitch, good day for us and looking forward to tomorrow and the day after. It was very simple, anything on the stumps we were cautious and anything outside the off-stump we were going after it. Just playing solid defense, any freebies we were capitalising on it. Just trying to get a game plan around, use the crease as best as you can and may going a bit back, we did that well. The way Kappy is playing, using the depth of the crease very well, hitting the ball as close to your eyes as possible is something we've done well now.
Stumps on Day Two

South Africa are 236/4, trailing by 367 runs

Session Summary : Overs 37 | Runs 130 | Wickets 2 | RPO 3.51

A session where the South Africans fought back with the bat, a session of hard toil for the Indian bowlers but more importantly a session which has moved this game forward nicely.

At the start of the final session, South Africa badly needed partnership and they got one from their experienced batters in Luus and Kapp. The pair started off in their own ways with Luus looking assured at the crease and Kapp going about her business in her attacking style.

Indians were guilty of giving Luus a couple of chances and that allowed the batters to stitch together a solid partnership for the Proteas. In the first half of the session, the spinners toiled hard, created some opportunities but were deprived of any success. Both the batters brought up their maiden test half-centuries and looked set for much more.

But then, the impressive Deepti Sharma returned and broke the 93-run stand to bring India back into the contest. Debutant Tucker did not bother the scorers as she ended up being Rana's third scalp and it looked like India might run away with things.

But then, a counter-attacking innings from de Klerk and a solid Kapp from the other end have ensured that South Africa did not cop any further blows till the end of the play. Their partnership has gone up to 38 in reasonably quick time and they will be looking to continue the same come tomorrow morning. The margin between the two teams is still 367 runs which is a big number and India will know that for sure.

71.6 Sneh Rana to Marizanne Kapp, short on the off-stump, Kapp hangs back and watchfully negotiates the last ball of the day. That is stumps on day 2!
Last ball of the day coming up..
71.5 Sneh Rana to Marizanne Kapp, OH DEAR! The pitch is doing all sorts of things now. Short and took off the deck and climbs into Kapp, she went back to play but goes past the glove, cops the blow on to her body.
All the fielders have been brought in
71.4 Sneh Rana to Marizanne Kapp, floated a full delivery outside the off-stump. Kapp leans and drilled it back to the bowler.
71.3 Sneh Rana to Marizanne Kapp, OH MY! What was that? Short and turned sharply back, climbs into Kapp who takes evasive action as it went down the leg-side. Beats Ghosh as well and finds the fine-leg ropes for FOUR BYES!
71.2 Sneh Rana to Marizanne Kapp, flighted the length delivery on the fourth stump, Kapp stays back and defends.
71.1 Sneh Rana to Marizanne Kapp, OH DEAR! Was that another chance? Floated a full delivery outside the off-stump, Kapp jams the horizontal bat to it and might've taken the outside edge. Ghosh couldn't collect neatly anyways!
Sneh Rana [19.0-1-61-3] will bowl the final over of the day
A couple of minutes remain in the day's play and we could be going into the final over of the day. Can India make a breakthrough or will the South African batters survive?
