So, the T20 trophy has been handed over to Rashid Khan and he now is celebrating with this team who are delighted. All smiles in the Afghanistan camp! With that, the multi-format series between Afghanistan and Ireland has come to an end. Ireland secured a historic test win to kick off the action and Afghanistan have come back from a 0-1 deficit to claim the T20 series winning both the white-ball series.
Rashid Khan is the Player Of The Series, here's what he said - I am really happy to be ending up on the winning side of the results. It is a great series win, specially for our youngsters. It was not easy for me to come back from injury and perform. Cricket is all about enjoyment, I believe that you should give the youngsters the free hand and they delivered for us. The future of Afghanistan is really bright. The preparation for the T20 world cup has been really great, we had this in minds and with just a couple of months to go we will be looking to
Paul Stirling (Ireland captain) - We were slightly off the pace today, beaten by the better side. But really happy with the performances we have put in, Ben White coming in after an injury and picking those wickets and a couple of other performances. Shows us how good Ibrahim was, he stayed till the end and made us pay. We are getting close to picking up our best 11 as we move closer to the world cup. The test match was certainly a special one and it will be remembered for a long time. We love coming here to UAE, looking forward.
Ibrahim Zadran is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: Very happy with my performance, couldn't contribute well in the last two games, but I was able to this game. Ireland played a good game in the first game, but we came back stronger to win the two games and win the series. Quite tough to play all three formats, but I try to adapt as quickly as possible but enjoy my game. We don't have any series before World Cup, we will try to prepare well for that and work on where we should improve, what all areas we need to improve, we will work on. Everyone will try to do well in the World Cup.
It's time for the presentations now!
Naveen-ul-Haq: Coming into the series, was feeling good but the first game didn't got my way, I told the coach that I'll be much better in the second and the third, it worked for me and held them back in the powerplay in this game. I've been playing a lot of T20 cricket, good preparations heading into IPL and then T20 World Cups. (On which dismissal he liked the most) Think, the second one I liked the most, we planned it well, me and Rashid, it came out the way we wanted.
Afghanistan have blown away Ireland on a paltry score of 98 and as a result have emerged as the winners of the T20 series between the two nations with a scoreline of 2-1.
Chasing 156, Ireland never really got going. They were jolted early with wickets on back to back deliveries in the second over when Naveen ul Haq castled Balbirnie and Tucker. They were never able to recover from that and kept on losing wickets throughout their batting innings.
Fazalhaq soon removed Striling and then it was time for Omarzai to join the party. He got the big fish, Tector, and that was all but game over for Ireland.
A tiny fightback in the form of a 36-run partnership between Campher and Delany did happen but as soon as Kharote removed Campher it was almost a procession thereafter.
Omarzai ended up with career-best figures of 4/9 while Naveen finished the job in the end with 3 wickets.
Earlier in the piece, Afghanistan got to 155, the highest score of the series, on the back of a career-best score of 72* from Ibrahim Zadran. Wickets kept falling on the other end but he made sure that Afghanistan got to what eventually proved a more than enough total.
For Ireland, 6 bowlers were used and all of them got 1 wicket each.
17.2 Naveen-ul-Haq to Ben White, OUT! TIMBER! Afghanistan take the series, 2-1. It's a thumping win for the hosts! Done him in with a slower one, angled in on the middle and leg. White too early to play across the line and misses, rattle the leg-stump as Afghanistan annihilate Ireland by 57 runs!
Ben White b Naveen ul Haq 1 (4b, 0x4, 0x6).
17.1 Naveen-ul-Haq to Josh Little, bangs in the short delivery into the batter, Little through with the pull shot too early, deflects off the shoulder down to third-man for a leg-bye.
Naveen ul Haq [2.0-0-10-2] is back into the attack.
This has been a spectacular defence from Afghanistan and they are just 1 wicket away from clinching the series. Ireland, on the other hand, would be disappointed with the performace they have put up with the bat.

16.6 Rashid Khan to Josh Little, goes round the wicket. Length delivery on the off-stump, Little went for a wild slog but mistimes it past mid-wicket for one.
16.5 Rashid Khan to Ben White, pulls the length back on the off-stump, White turned it around square-leg for another single.
16.4 Rashid Khan to Josh Little, drags it short on the stumps, Little caps back and turned it past mid-wicket for a single.
16.3 Rashid Khan to Ben White, BIG APPEAL FOR LBW, NOT GIVEN! Struck well outside the line. Good length on the fourth stump, White shuffles across off-stump to sweep and gets a tickle to short fine-leg for one.
16.2 Rashid Khan to Ben White, tossed up a length delivery on the fourth stump, White walks across off-stump and watchfully defends it into the on-side.
Ben White, RHB, is the last man in.
The magician joins the party too, he gets his first of the night and this is all but over now.
