A dampening end to the 3rd encounter. The weather was an issue in the first encounter but we ended up getting a result with India winning by 2 runs (DL method). The margin of victory was bigger in the 2nd match, with the Men in Blue romping home by 33 runs. Unfortunately we couldn't have any game today but the fans remained in the stadium and as we bid adieu, we can see the Indian players posing with the photographs. Thankyou for bearing with us during the rain break. The cricketing action continues with the US Masters League T10 currently underway. We have several matches lined up tomorrow starting from the 4:30 AM CPL game. For now, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator Shashwat Kumar. Goodnight! Cheers!
Its time for Jasprit Bumrah to collect the trophy and the Indian team will pose for photographs. The sun is beaming out as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh holds the trophy aloft.
Jasprit Bumrah (India captain): Don't know about that (on whether he will be riding the bike he got) but great to be back and get some game time. It was frustrating. We didn't see it coming because the weather was fine in the morning. All of them are very eager and enthusiastic. Even if there is some weather around everyone was pumped up to go out which was heartening to see. I don't recall thinking about that. Whenever you get a chance to lead your side everyone enjoys that and I am no different. It always feels good to lead the side. It makes my job a bit easier when all of these guys have a plan of their own. They keep telling me how they want to execute their plans.
Paul Stirling (Ireland captain): I think just the period of good cricket by us in patches. Whenever we come back in the next series we can take the learnings from here. It's brilliant to have India here. This is all we can ask for and thanks to the crowd. It would have been happier for the crowd and the boys to get a game in. Its a build up for the next 10 months. Its a very good start and we hope we can build towards it.
Jasprit Bumrah is the Player of the Series. He gets a cheque and a bike.
Time for the post-match and series presentation ceremony with Alan Wilkins.
10:33 PM IST, 06:03 PM local time: The match has been called off. Sadly, we couldn't quite get a game in. The rain has stopped but the damage has already been done and it won't be possible for the groundsmen to make the ground match ready before the cut off time. The players shake their hands as the series ends 2-0 in favor of India.
10:12pm IST, 5:42pm local time: A bit of good news, perhaps. The rain seems to have abated, and the covers are being slowly peeled off too. Players are out on the field as well, and we have an inspection scheduled for 5:45pm local time.
The rain is persistent but hopefully, we will have a positive update soon. As we keep waiting, do read 👇 to find out the reactions of the Indian cricketers who congratulated ISRO on scripting history after India became the first country to land a spacecraft on the south pole of the moon.
9:30 PM IST, 05:00 PM local time: It is looking grim out there. The rain is persistent and chances of the match beginning anytime soon seem unlikely. Cricket Ireland have tweeted that the umpires are planning to have an inspection in about 20 minutes.
8:50 PM IST, 4:20 PM local time: A BCCI tweet says that the drizzle hasn't stopped yet. No overs lost so far but we will start losing overs from 9:15 PM IST.
Unfortunately, there is no positive news from the ground so far and the wait continues. As we wait for the rain to relent, keep yourself engrossed with the top five expert reactions after India left out Yuzvendra Chahal from the Asia Cup squad. Read 👇 to find out.
8:30 PM IST, 4:00 PM local time: Nothing much to report, to be honest. No news from the ground so we assume the drizzle is persistent. We will be back as and when we get any updates. Stay tuned.
7:40 PM IST, 3:10 PM local time: The wait continues. Rain continues to play spoilsport. The weather forecast wasn't great for the day but we should have a game in some capacity. The covers are still on and the super soppers are trying to do their job—hopefully some positive update on the other side.
