That brings us to the end of our coverage of cricket for the day. One more game left in the league stages of the 2023 SA20 - this one to decide who takes the final semi-finals' spot between the Paarl Royals and the Durban Super Giants, although the latter can only sit and watch the game unfold! DSG will be dependent on the Pretoria Capitals to inflict a major defeat on the Royals - a Capitals win by either 60 runs or 30 balls will see DSG qualify for the semis! For now, though, this is Rajarshi, signing off on behalf of myself and Pragadeesh. Good night!
Faf du Plessis (Joburg Super Kings captain): I was thinking how do you play that ball, that half-tracker should have been dispatched for four. obviously, it hit a wet patch and spun. The powerplay is important, trying to get ahead of the game, you could see the way that Wade played, the intensity, the way he played those laps, good options for him. As it got slower, I think he played really well. Du Plooy's having a fantastic season for us, great knock from him again. It's not an old-school Joburg wicket, where pace and bounce do the trick. Spinners are playing a part in this competition, the guys bowled well tonight. (On Gerald Coetzee) he has pace, and he has been developing rapidly. Disappointed not to have a home semi final, would have been great but we have to switch venues. We'll need a change of plans for Centurion, it's a bowler's graveyard there.
Leus du Plooy (Player Of The Match): It was tough to time the ball throughout the innings. We had an idea of how to play after yesterday's game on this track. (On Wade's review) I just asked him whether it was pitched outside off and he will get a beer for me. Playing under a captain like Faf and Fleming, I am going to keep improving and learning from them
Leus du Plooy is the Player Of The Match
Rashid Khan (MI Cape Town Captain)- I feel we were in control at the start but didn't execute our plan in the middle overs. And we have given too many runs in the end. These are the kind of areas we struggled in the last 7-8 games. Overall, if we look at the whole competition we didn't take the game deep in batting. In the last 10 games, we scored only 2-3 fifties and someone should've played a key role in the batting at no.3 and no.4. We didn't play well in that area and next year we want to come out strong. I loved it here. The support was good and it's good to see how successful this competition is. After IPL it's going to be big and in the next 3-4 years, this competition is going to be huge
Match summary: MI Cape Town won the toss and opted to bowl
Joburg Super Kings 1st innings 189/6 (20 Overs) Leus du Plooy 81*(48) | Sam Curran 2/26 (3)
MI Cape Town 2nd innings 113 all out (17.5 Overs) Dewald Brevis 27(26) | Kyle Simmonds 3/23 (3)
Joburg Super Kings win by 76 runs
The Joburg Super Kings players acknowledge the home crowd having secured a convincing victory. The MI Cape Town batting card reads a rather sorry tale. The start to their run-chase wasn't good enough by any means, they failed to maximize on the powerplay, played out too many dot deliveries, and by the time the big-hitting heavyweights made their way to the middle, the game was already slipping away from them. Kyle Simmonds, Lizaad Williams and Maheesh Theekshana ensured that the lid was on the MI Cape Town openers right from the start, as they hit the right lengths, varied their pace and put on a lot of pressure.
Marshall was the first to depart, and the arrival of Grant Roelofsen didn't do much to improve the run rate. The MICT wicket keeper's struggle was to no end, it took him several deliveries to get off the mark itself, he wasn't able to rotate strike, he couldn't find the boundaries too often, and was eventually cleaned up by Simmonds for a 21-ball 24. Van der Dussen's promotion up the order wasn't of much use today, the South African middle-order batter couldn't step up to the plate either and holed out.
With Dewald Brevis and Tim David still to come, MICT were still hopeful of making a match out of it, but the ask was too much. The entire middle-order, in trying to up the ante, were toppled one by one. Tim David did put up a brief fight, but once he found Reeza Hendricks at long-on, the game was up. The lower-order was cleaned up bit by bit, Brevis hung around till the end before losing his poles to Coetzee. Presentations coming up shortly, stay tuned....
It's Brevis who's the final man to depart! It has not been MI Cape Town's night or tournament by any means - they have been humbled in the final game of their 2023 campaign. Joburg Super Kings take the game by 76 runs!
17.5 Gerald Coetzee to Dewald Brevis, BOWLED! A massive win for Joburg Super Kings. A star-studded MI Cape Town's forgettable campaign comes to an end. They sign off with a big loss. Back of a hand slow delivery angling in, Brevis looks to hack this across but is deceived by the lack of bounce and missed it. The ball knocks the leg-stump on this occasion
Dewald Brevis b Gerald Coetzee 27 (26b 0x4 2x6)
17.4 Gerald Coetzee to Dewald Brevis, gives room but Coetzee followed him with a length delivery. Brevis plays it down to sweeper cover and denies a single again
17.3 Gerald Coetzee to Dewald Brevis, pulls the length back and angles it in, Brevis pushes it down to extra cover
17.2 Gerald Coetzee to Dewald Brevis, SIX! Slow delivery in the slot, Brevis bends low and smokes it over long-on for a 90m six
17.1 Gerald Coetzee to Dewald Brevis, drags the fuller delivery uppishly to long-on and the fielder collects it on the bounce
Williams completely flummoxed Archer with the slower one in the final couple of deliveries of his over. JSK just one wicket away now from wrapping things up.

16.4 Lizaad Williams to Kagiso Rabada, slow delivery angling across off and the ball keeps low. Rabada didn't offer any shot
Kagiso Rabada, LHB, comes to the crease
16.3 Lizaad Williams to Jofra Archer, OUT! Full outside off-stump, Archer swings but gets a thick outside edge and Wade does the rest. MI Cape Town are 9 down now, and the writing's well and truly on the wall!

16.2 Lizaad Williams to Dewald Brevis, full outside off-stump, Brevis reaches for it, loses balance and drives it to sweeper cover for a single
