Angelo Mathews: Initially I was regretting opting to field first, we were behind in most part of the chase. The wicket was obviously going to turn but we expected the wicket to play better. We call Prasanna rocky. His performance was fantastic. Our start wasn't great with the ball but the bowlers pulled us back.

Phew! What a thriller we have been treated to. Both teams fighting for the fourth spot almost gave in their all but it was known only one team would prevail. Chasing 147, there were considerable contributions from the likes of Angelo Mathews, Thikshila de Silva, Ashan Priyanjan and Sherfane Rutherford with their bats. Dinesh Chandimal continuing form with the bat made a blistering 44 from 27 balls but got out at the wrong moment as the match went down the wire. The Stars were left with 16 runs to be chased down in the last over. And out of nowhere Seekkuge Prasanna blasted three sixes off the bowling of Lahiru Kumara to win the match for the Stars. And as Kandy Warriors captain Angelo Perera confessed that it was the innings of LPL!

Earlier, Kandy Warriors huffed and puffed their way to 146/9 at the end of their quota of 20 overs. The Warriors could have posted a much better total on the scoreboard had it not been for that middle-order collapse. Asked to bat first, the opening pair of Kennar Lewis and Charith Asalanka stitched a 50-run partnership. After 8 overs the Warriors were cruising at 77/0. Then they lost the first wicket as Naveen-ul-Haq dismissed Asalanka. Lewis carried on for a bit longer to complete his fifty. But by then wickets started tumbling from one end. Lewis walked back in the 12th over after compiling 62 from 44 balls. Then came the middle-order collapse as the Warriors lost the plot and the batters just threw away their wickets. From 103/4 they were reduced to 136/9.

Angelo Perera: I thought 18 to get was certainly defendable but that knock from Prasanna was the knock of the LPL so far this season. Lahiru Kumara was the only bowler who was left with his quota so I had no choice. The spinners had finished. We couldn't execute the yorkers. I would always back Lahiru. One of the main bowlers for us and Sri Lanka as well. I would like to still believe we have a chance.

Player of the Match, Seekkuge Prasanna: I am really happy about my performance. My teammates and coaching staff always backed me and gave me confidence. I always had faith in myself.

Colombo Stars sail over the line and the star of the show is Seekkuge Prasanna who blasted four sixes to take this match away from Kandy Warriors. There is joy for Prasanna and the Stars, and agony for Kumara and the Warriors. Kumara is flat on the ground and he cannot believe it that he conceded three sixes. He gets up but shouts on himself for giving away those sixes. But it is not his fault. He had not bowled up until the last over of the match. It will be tough for Kumara but we hope he gets his act back quickly and bounces back in style. Should he have been bowled earlier?

But we have been treated with a thriller in which Colombo Stars have prevailed. The win also keeps the Stars in contention for the knockout phase. And we are afraid, that the Warriors are on their way out of the next round.
