And that will be that! The inaugural Uttar Pradesh T20 has been a major success and this is just the beginning of what promises to be a highly exciting competition in the years to come. It's been a real pleasure bringing the coverage of this final to you and we thank you for being a part of it with us. Loads more cricketing action lined up over the weekend though so do stay tuned to Sportskeeda and follow our coverage of it all. For the moment though, this is the duo of Sooryanarayanan Sesha and Pranav Danani taking your leave. Good night and take care!
Karan Sharma walks up to the dais and collects the glittering trophy. He then joins his teammates who break into raucous cheers and celebrations. Confetti and fireworks in the background and the Kashi Rudras bask in glory as the champions of the inaugural Uttar Pradesh T20! What a moment, what a story and what a night - one which they will remember for a long, long time.
And now, the Kashi Rudras players collect their winners' medals. A fairytale story if there ever was one and this is quite a journey they've enjoyed together. Self-belief of the highest order is what they've displayed and they will hold that trophy aloft any moment now.
Karan Sharma (Kashi Rudras captain): There was talk that we were the underdogs but we spoke about playing as a team and that we could go the distance if we did. Our batting is strong but our bowlers have also done well, we have the Purple Cap too. We believed that we could do it. We just spoke about sticking to the plan and even if the execution goes wrong in that case it's fine. I just focused on playing the ball. If he bowls well then even I can play it well.
The Meerut Mavericks collect their runners-up medals. So near, yet so far for a team that was so good throughout the tournament. Tonight was just not to be for them though but they can be mighty pleased with the way they've performed throughout the season.
Madhav Kaushik(Meerut Mavericks captain): "I want to thank the organisers as they gave us the platform to grow and groom, coming to the game it was an off day as batting has always been our strength. We were batting so well and we won the last 8 games well you can call it a fluke or a bad day. We had the swing bowlers and had a few stratergies as well and Karan batted well all throughout and we thought Kartik will produce something with the swing."
Karan Sharma is also the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. Surprised much?
Here's what he has to say: We were the underdogs but the way we fought in each match, it feels really good. It (the schedule) was hard but the main focus was to lift the trophy. I just look to watch the ball and play accordingly. At the start if there are any bad balls I look to put them away. Quite a lot of our players have performed really well. Shiva didn't give runs in the middle-overs. Atal, Bobby, Prince they all did really well.
Kashi Rudras skipper Karan Sharma walks away with the Orange Cap. He tallied 606 runs for the season was at his consistent best all season!
Atal Bihari Rai is the Purple Cap Winner and here is what he had to say - "We went as we planned and we just reminded the players to execute the same when required. As I said, we went with the plans based on batters on the crease. I credit the support staff and the physo for helping me cope with the injury."
Swastik Chikara is declared the Emerging Player of the Tournament. Three hundreds in the season - we're going to hear a lot of this lad in the years to come!
Here's what he has to say: Not feeling good since we couldn't play well today. We didn't get a good start today and we didn't gain momentum as a result. (On his preparation) I was practicing for six hours in the open nets (ahead of the tournament).
The tournament officials are presented with their mementos. This is followed by a cheque and a memento for the head curator Mr. Shiv Kumar who has produced some outstanding surfaces throughout this tournament.
Bobby Yadav (Man of the Match) - The planning was clear as to where to bowl and to bowl openly! The captain backed me very well! Our team combination was very well and everyone had contributed equally for which I would like to thank the team and the captain for the same. I loved it when I bowled out Swastik Chikara.
Time for the presentation!
Prince Yadav: It feels really good. Everyone remembers who wins the first season so it feels really good. We just tried to play match by match and once we got that momentum it was hard to break it.
Ankur Malik: We were all very excited today. Everyone's favorites were the Mavericks since they were a strong team on paper. But we were united and played as one unit and won. (On captain Karan Sharma) He has been captaining UP in the Ranji Trophy for three years and that definitely helped a lot. They played the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy too last year and somewhere around that experience helped us a lot.
Let's get some early reactions in!
Atal Bihari Rai: It helped that we picked up a lot of early wickets and we didn't let them back into the game. Karan batted really well. Injuries are a part of the game but the staff has worked with me and motivated me. I'm very happy (in how the tournament went). Shiva Singh: Perhaps not many expected us to get into the final. But we showed plenty of fight. Especially our captain Karan, the way he batted and took responsibility up top. We planned to go all out to dismiss their top-order batters. Kamil Khan: The environment was excellent. We were confident of winning the game.
The celebrations have begun, The fireworks are going on full blast, and the Rudras, deservingly win the first season and Karan Sharma! Take a bow! He has embarked his name not only in this match but in this tournament as he becomes the highest run scorer of this match! The Rudras get a one sided win and the expected result from the first innings has surely manifested in this one.
The openers, Shiva Singh and Karan Sharma get an absolute banger of a start as they get the 50-run partnership in the blink of an eye. They were middling every ball as they were getting the runs and it looked like the match was going to end in a flash. But in comes Kartik Tyagi, who decimates the top order as he gets two back-to-back wickets.
The batters looked like they were under some pressure, but on the other end was the mighty Karan Sharma, who was firing the big hits from his blade as he made the match into a one-sided game, as was expected in the first innings. Sadly, he wasn't there to finish the game as he got out cheaply and the batters were struggling to make the final runs as the Mavericks gave a tough fight! but it did no damage. The spinners lost the turn and the batters got a comfortable win as they created history in this tournament by becoming the debut winners of the Jio Uttar Pradesh T20 League.
19.1 Purnank Tyagi to Prince Yadav, FOUR! GLORY FOR KASHI RUDRAS! From the verge of elimination before the semifinals to glory on the big night, what a story this has been! Dug short just outside the line of off stump. Prince stands tall and heaves it behind square on the leg-side to find the gap and send it racing along. Out come his teammates as they invade the pitch and there are fireworks aplenty in the background. This is a moment to savor with the Rudras scripting history in the inaugural season of a league that promises so much in the years to come. Kashi Rudras are the champions of the inaugural Uttar Pradesh T20!
Well we surely did not expect a good fight from the Mavericks as they got the match to the final over of this match. The scores are levelled and the Rudras are just a run away from winning this.

18.4 Kunal Yadav to Prince Yadav, back of a length and angling into middle and leg stump. Prince shuffles across and works it behind square on the leg-side for a single
