This was a topsy turvy game but the side that played better cricket came out on top at the end of the day. Essex had a very wobbly start losing their openers cheaply. Their no.3 and no.4 too couldn't manage to do much and they were found wanting for a hero to take them home across the victory line.

The middle and lower middle order combined forces and were determined to end the game in their favour. It was Paul Walter who played a cameo but couldn't covert his cameo into a substantial score. Later Matt Critchley stitched parternships, first with Daniel Sams and then with William Buttleman. They turned out to be match winning 6th and 7th wicket stands as Essex came from behind and won this game with 10 balls to spare.

It was a spirited bowling performance from Kent but somehow it wasn't meant to be. Michael Hogan and Fred Klaassen gave them a perfect start with the ball in and seemed to threaten the bat throughout. Geogre Linde, the only spinner in use, also bowled his heart out and challenged the batters with his wily variations. They could've done better had their field plannings been spot on to place the men in catching positions.

18.2 Joe Denly to Matt Critchley, SIX! Critchley finishes it off in style. That was a drag down from Denly, Critchley rocks back and slaps that away well over the deep square leg fence.
