A dominant chase from start to finish! There was a small hiccup in between but with the kind of start that the Spartans received from their openers, it was always going to be difficult stopping them. This, after Taha Hassan's triple-strike towards the end ensured that Koln CC were restricted to 103/8 in their 10-over quota.

Waqas Fatmi and skipper Muhammad Asif weren't going to die wondering though and they raced along at the rate of knots in the Powerplay. A 24-run third over saw the Spartans scorch past the 50-run mark, throwing a spanner and then some into the works of Koln's defense. The bowling side had a lot of soul-searching to do but just never seemed like they were clear in their minds as to how to go about defending it.

It was heading towards foregone territory with fours and sixes galore all the way, until Appu Murali struck twice in as many deliveries to bring the game back in the balance. That said, with Fatmi still out there, it was always the Spartans who were in front and fittingly enough, he sealed the deal with a massive six to notch up a brilliant half-century in the process. Fair play to Shazaib Khan too, who chipped in with an unbeaten 17-run cameo of his own to kill the chase.

This is where it ends for Koln CC but they will take part in the bronze final against the Dusseldorf Blackcaps soon enough. We now know though that Golden Star Bonn will face Bayer Spartans in the summit clash later this evening.

And he seals it in grand fashion! A stunning half-century for Waqas Fatmi and he wraps up a thumping victory for his side in this second semifinal. Bayer Spartans book a spot in the final with an 8-wicket victory!
