Unfortunately we could not get any action in this contest as the weather had the final say. But, there is a whole lot of action on the Sportskeeda platform lined up for you. For now, this is Sourabh and Rudransh taking your leave. See you soon!
16:30 IST, 16:00 local time - Here's the official update - The match has been abandoned due to rain. It was only a matter of time before the contest was called off with the persistent rain which is still continuing. Peshawar Zalmi and Lahore Qalandars will take a point each out of this contest.
16:15 IST, 15:45 local time - The cut-off time for a 5-over contest is 16:47 local time and with the rain still coming down heavily, it seems unlikely that we are going to get a single ball bowled in this contest.
15:33 IST, 15:03 local time: It's now once again raining heavily. Absolutely pelting down as the groundsmen are bringing in more covers. The chances of any play are getting bleaker with every moment.
15:27 IST, 14:57 local time: Ah, just when things started to look promising. A lot of those who were standing in the field have walked back inside because massive dark clouds have covered the arena. Some players ad staff are still standing out but it looks anything but good. The pitch has been covered again, as well.
15:15 IST, 14:45 Local Time - Both the captains, Babar and Shaheen, are in the middle in their training kits and are having a look at the pitch; also the teams are out on the ground as well having a look at the conditions. All the covers have been removed, the stumps have been put into place, all this indicates that there should be an official update very soon.
Pitch Report - Waqar Younis reckons that the pitch is damp due to the rain from the last few days and it will assist the seamers if they hit the right areas. It will not be the usual 200-run Pindi wicket and the side that wins the toss would look to bowl first to take advantage of the gloomy conditions, he adds.
15:05 IST, 14:35 Local Time - The umps are out in the middle for the inspection. It seems to be good by the looks of it, so let's expect some positive news really soon.
14:30 IST, 14:00 Local Time - There will be an inspection at 2:30 Local Time, that is in half an hour from here on. The Lahore Qalandars are mathematically still in the reckoning for the playoffs; however improbable that may sound; so they would definitely not want this game to be called off. It is not raining at the moment and the super soppers are into their work. There are some wet patches on the ground, according to the commentators, which are the main areas of concern.
14:25 IST and 13:55 local time: Covers have been taken off though it's still dark out there.
Our answer is also same, no difference: stay tuned for updates!
Okay, so we have some bad news: It's raining in Pindi and the weather at the ground is not good. Toss has been delayed and we'll likely see some overs cut. Let's hope we at least get some action.
Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of Match 17 of PSL 2024 between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi live from Rawalpindi. I (Rudransh) and my co-commentator Sourabh will take you through every bit of ball-by-ball action from the middle!
This match is mostly about seeing whether the Qalandar can finally end their streak of losses. It has been such a difficult season for them and coming against Zalmi at this stage of the game just doesn't make it better. After losing the first two matches of the season, Babar Azam's team has been able to string three wins together. However, all of them have been while bowling second and quite narrow ones so they are not coming to this game without their shares of problems either. Expect some typical PSL drama, and a lot of twists and turns today!
