Clinical and comprehensive. Limassol Zalmi are a team that definitely knows how to peak at the right time. They incurred a few losses at the start of the tournament but bounced back and now are into the quarter finals.
Their resilience was on display yesterday itself. They came to the ground requiring to win all three of their matches. Not only were they able to do that, but today in the knockout fixture, they raised the bar even higher.
It is a victory that was set up by the opening duo of Salman Khan and Muhammad Huzaifa who put on a 200-run stand and effectively batted the Qalandars out of the game. Minute hopes of an unlikely chase were ignited when Qasim Muhammad scored a belligerent half century in just 14 balls. But, once he got out, Zalmi fell apart like a pack of cards.
Salman Khan contributed with the ball too as he returned figures of 2-0-17-2. Bottom line: Limassol Zalmi are through to the quarter finals of ECS, Cyprus, Encore 2024.
