Limassol Zalmi beat Everest by 37 runs!

As was expected, this turned out to be a rather lopsided contest in favour of the Limassol Zalmi. A lot was expected from the batters of Everest, including the likes of Jeevan Lamsal, Shyam Pandit, Arjun Shahi and skipper Bimal Ranabhat, but they failed to impress in a game that mattered the most.

Ram Jaishwal struck an unbeaten 40, but it came a little too late for his team's liking. Now, they have been knocked out of this tournament, with Zalmi proceeding to the semifinals to be played tomorrow. More than the defeat, it is the nature in which they capsized that will worry Everest.

Nevertheless, they had a good tournament, having begun it on a sour note losing most of the matches they played at first but overturning them after some time. They would have hoped to qualify for the semifinal but sadly, it was not to be.

All credit needs to be given to Limassol Zalmi for the way they played today. They completely outperformed Everest in all three departments: batting, bowling and fielding. Hasher Ullah led their bowlers along with the likes of Umar Shah and Babar Ayub. The latter ended his spell with three wickets to his name.

However, the star of the day for Zalmi was surely Jawad Shah, who struck a monumental 35-ball century earlier in the day. That was the key for the Zalmi to set up such a huge target and later restrict Everest to a lowly total. They will hope to recreate the same form they showed today in the semifinals tomorrow.
