It's hot out here in the middle. From the North End, the off-side boundary is 63m while the leg-side boundary is 70m. Straight down the ground, it is 73m-long boundary that we have for today. These, from the point of view of a right-hand bat. This is pitch no. 6, used previously. It is a black soil pitch. Commentary

07:50 PM IST: That brings us to the end of the first contest of the day. LSG winning their third consecutive match off the final over of the match. GT have lost their first game after a while. There is a whole middle in the top of the top of the points table. The top three teams with eight points and the next three teams with six points. Another match is underway and you can switch tabs to follow that. For now, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Bidipto Datta.

Aiden Markram is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: Yeah definitely have found my flow. Unfortunately feel a bit behind as the tournament started. Had a complete freedom to bat the way I wanted and it's coming off nicely. Yeah can be a bit of a both. Just hopping around and playing a lot of cricket. Ultimately you have to stick to your game. Guys like Pooran can hit sixes anytime which might not be your strength. You can get sucked into that, you always going back to your strengths. It's quite important to stick true to yourself. Yeah the pitch did change a bit, under the hot sun it was under the slower side. The lights on made a difference, fortunate to be on the right side of the toss.

Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants captain): Definitely feeling happy. Like I said before it's about following the same path and believing in each other's abilities. I think the idea was to bowl mostly yorkers and into the surface. It was great to see the bowlers making such a good comeback. You can be put under pressure in a T20 game but the way they pulled it back was great. Today Marsh gave me the opportunity and I tried to spend more time out in the middle. It's a team game after all and you want to put your best foot forward. I think one thing is for sure, we are really happy to have Pooran in our time. The way he is batting, the way he is hitting sixes, just trying to do the best for our team. He has been phenomenal.

Nicholas Pooran, the new holder of the Orange Cap (61 runs off 34 balls in the 2nd innings): "It was a beautiful wicket to bat on! The opening partnership was key, it laid the platform for someone like me to come in and express myself. I surprised myself sometimes with those sixes! Bowlers will figure me out eventually, but good batting is about scoring runs and finding ways to score those runs. Batting at no. 3, it's important to make the play. So, I tried to make the most of the match-up against Sai Kishore and it worked today."

Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans captain): "Wicket wasn't easy to hit from the get-go, so the conversation was that one of Sai Sudharsan and I had to bat till 18 overs, but loss of back-to-back wickets cost us. The strike rotation in the middle overs wasn't good either, we have to work on that. The idea was always to take wickets. The match actually went very deep, there was a bit of dew which did not help our cause. But the match going till the last over is a positive."

After a bit of a stutter towards the end, it was Ayush Badoni who held his nerves and delivered the killer punch in the final over as LSG defeated GT by 6 wickets with three deliveries to spare. The target of 181 was going to be a tricky one for LSG and Rishabh Pant sent himself at the top of the order in the absence of Mitchell Marsh.

He didn't look anywhere close to his best but his opening partner Aiden Markram started off in an exquisite fashion. He smashed some lovely shots on the rise and kept the momentum going despite Pant struggling at the other end. He finally got going well, a trademark falling sweep just passing Jos Buttler behind the stumps.

He scored 21 off 18 deliveries and slowly started getting into his groove before slicing one straight to the deep third man fielder. Out came Nicholas Pooran and turned the game on its head. He took his time for the first few deliveries before unleashing a barrage of sixes which kept coming from the middle of the bat.

He smashed seven sixes and a four en route to his knock of 61 while Markram also batted brilliantly, scoring a quickfire 58. The partnership almost finished the game off as Pooran smashed GT’s best spinner Sai Kishore for 24 runs. Ayush Badoni came out to the middle after Markram’s dismissal.

Pooran continued the carnage and once he was dismissed in the 16th over, it looked like everything was under the carpet and LSG would cruise to victory. However the GT bowlers turned things around in the last five overs and took the game to the final over. Stopping six runs in the final over was a bit too much for Sai Kishore. Ayush Badoni remained unbeaten on 28 to see his side over the finish line.

07:23 PM IST: Ayush Badoni finishes it off in style but not before LSG were given some scare towards the end after the loss of Nicholas Pooran's wicket. He again played a match winning knock while Aiden Markram started off the carnage with a brilliant fifty. This win will certainly give a lot of confidence to the home team going forward. GT would rue their last 8 overs where they scored just 60 runs which turned out to be the difference between the two sides.

19.3 Sai Kishore to Ayush Badoni, SIX RUNS! LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS WIN IT SUPERBLY! Good length on off-and-middle. Badoni lines it up, gets down on one knee and clobbers it deep into the stands over deep mid-wicket!

This should be the boundary which wins it for the Lucknow Super Giants.

When Pooran was batting, no one really felt the match could go till the final over but it has and now anything can happen. LSG just needs one big hit to finish it off while GT need a great final over.
