Melbourne Renegades win by 6 wickets Sam Harper 89(48) | Caleb Jewell 28(17) Kane Richardson 2-20 | Nathan Ellis 1-17(3.1)
Comprehensive win for the Renegades powered by Sam Harper's 48-ball 89. The Renegades avenge their earlier loss to Hobart this year. Back to back losses for Hobart after tonight's defeat.
The Renegades got off to a fast start with Guptill attacking but they lost both openers in successive balls and the Hurricanes pegged things back. But Harper was in a belligerent mood and destroyed the attack with his strokeplay.
Harper was given a couple of lives and he made the most of it. He smashed Joel Paris for 28 in one over and that hastened the end, before he fell for 89.
The formalities were completed by Wells and Sutherland.
Sam Harper (Man of the Match): Nice to get a few away and get a win for the boys. I needed to get the job done tonight. (On Harris' run out) It's a terrible run out but it's nice to be on the winning side. It's always a worst feeling to drop a catch but I was batting well and had to keep trusting my game. It's nice to get a few wins under our belt and now looking forward to the next challenge in Adelaide. Guptill is a beautiful striker and it's good to see him strike a few at the top.
18.1 Nathan Ellis to Jonathan Wells, FOUR! Tim David gives up on the chase and it trickles into the fence. The crowd roars in delight as the Renegades reign supreme by six wickets. Pitched up on a good length, Wells smashes it straight down the ground and finishes things in style
