Commentary

What a thriller it turned out to be in the end as Melbourne Stars Women pull off a heist, all thanks to Annabel Sutherland. With that we move on to the big one of the day, ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Finals, between Pakistan and England at MCG, don't forget to tune into that. Annabel Sutherland has been adjudged the Player of the Match! Here's what she has to say: The wind was coming strong from one hand, just glad I was able to hit a couple clean hits in the final over. Glad my Dad is here, family and few friends, good see to all the crowd, good to see everyone come down. We just got to keep winning from here, simple as that, good to get this one and just roll on it and pick up some momentum from here on.

Melbourne Stars Women won the game by 5 wickets!

What a thriller of a contest we've all witnessed, until that last over, the Stars never saw them in the game but Sutherland believed that she could do it and she hit three monumental maximums that sealed the deal for them. She put the most dangerous bowler of Renegades under enormous pressure by taking her down with two lusty blows.

Stars needed 22 of the last over and who would've thought that the batting side will win it of the last delivery, unbelievable stuff from Sutherland. Smashed three maximums of the final over and helped her team go over the line single handedly and their hopes sneaking into the playoffs this season stay alive.

It wasn't all the greatest of starts for the Stars, they were 22-1 at the end of five overs and were way behind when the powerplay finished. Renegades kept squeezing in on Stars throughout and never allowed them to get on top of them but the power surge turned things around for the Stars, Sutherland clobbered Hayward for a massive 22 runs from it and from there on they were in the hunt always.

Sutherland lost partners at the other end but she never lost her hopes on pulling this one off. Renegades were brilliant with the ball, Sarah Coyte delivered pivotal blows for Stars to peg them back every time she came on to bowl and then Hayley Matthews as well picking up two crucial wickets, it all went down south for them in the final over by some masterclass hitting by Annabel Sutherland in the end.

What a final over this has been from the Melbourne Stars, Annabel Sutherland is a star, she's pulled off an improbable win for the Stars here and the Renegades look dejected.
