Commentary

So that concludes our coverage of today's double-header at the SA20. It's been a pleasure bringing the same to you here on Sportskeeda and we can't thank you enough. Mind you, it's a jampacked Sunday lined up with cricket, cricket and more cricket from dawn until dusk around the globe. This is where you need to return to catch our coverage of it all. All smiles, Rashid Khan. Why wouldn't you be after a performance like this, eh? Another game lined up for them on Monday though so there is not much downtime for them. Yet, they won't complain if they make this a winning habit and ride a good wave of momentum hereon. They will now travel to Gqeberha to play the Sunrisers Eastern Cape on Monday while the Super Kings finally head home to the Wanderers, although a red-hot Pretoria Capitals is whom they run into.

Kagiso Rabada wins the Player of the Match award. Here is what he has to say: Good way to start. George (Linde) got us the wickets upfront and that put pressure on them. I just tried to keep it as simple as possible. In the middle, the spinners did their bit and we got the win in the end. Always lovely playing at home and here in Newlands. The crowds have been fantastic. The tournament has been fantastic and there's plenty of interest around with the crowd turning up. (On their bowling attack) I wish I could make bowling look as easy as Jof (Archer). Olly (Stone) has been taking wickets, stiff one for him to miss out.

Faf du Plessis (Joburg Super Kings captain): T20 cricket isn't it? You can either ride that momentum or the other side of it. A few days now to go back to Johannesburg and put things right. (Where has it gone wrong with the bat?) Probably confidence - T20 cricket is a game of confidence. Three bad starts and when that happens the guys don't have much time to make sure they can get it right. Three games in four days, we've been on the bad side of that but we've got some time to rectify that. It's pretty slow and worn out. Actually very slow. Their team with three spinners is set up perfectly for those conditions. In terms of our balance we didn't have that luxury. We're waiting for Theekshana - after the next game he'll be there. He'll be a nice addition to our squad. I think it'll be slow back there (in Joburg) as well so it's trying to make sure we can the wicket with a bit more pace in it. Our team is set with some really really good fast-bowlers. One win away. Would have liked two, but really got to make sure we do well in those home games.

Truth be told, the result was hardly in doubt. More so, when MI Cape Town enjoyed a seamless powerplay and Dewald Brevis was up and running in style again. What was in question though, was whether the hosts would pocket just the four points or a fifth as well. The Joburg Super Kings might have come out on the wrong side of the result but their bowlers have at least ensured that MI Cape Town don't walk away with the bonus point.

Alzarri Joseph looked awry initially although he peppered Brevis with the short stuff later on. The standout performer for the Super Kings though was Gerald Coetzee. Bowling with serious gas, he too troubled Brevis with the pacey short ones while also getting it to fizz off the surface. Without a doubt, a huge positive for Faf du Plessis and Co. to take out of heading into the latter stages of the tournament.

MI Cape Town were cruising towards another bonus point win, but they were tied down in knots post the 10th over. The dots piled up with Aaron Phangiso doing his bit with the seamers also keeping them quiet. George Garton then bowled a superb 16th over to deny Sam Curran and Rassie van der Dussen, before the former finished it off with a boundary.

Van der Dussen sure looked like a fish out of water while he was out there alright. He never got going and eventually, that played a big role in the hosts not securing the bonus point. On a sluggish track though, the Super Kings attack was on the money as the innings progressed. They put in a fine defensive show to deny the hosts that bonus point, although that's about all they can drive home. Boy do they need an uplift with the bat or what if they are to compete in the tournament! Stick around for the presentation...

Ah if it had only come an over earlier! It would have sealed the bonus point to boot but either way, MI Cape Town soar to the top of the table with a 7-wicket win!

16.2 Romario Shepherd to Sam Curran, FOUR! Curran seals the deal, better late than never. Not like it was ever in any doubt though. At the back of a length outside off, sits up nicely for Curran as he wallops it over extra cover to give MI Cape Town a 7-wicket win!
