The Unicorns get off to a winning start. They posted a massive total on the board and even though there was no guarantee they would successfully defend this against a star-studded MI New York outfit at the halfway stage, they stuck to their bowling plans and never allowed the opposition to dominate proceedings with the bat. Steven Taylor's day got bad to worse as he got out for a duck, while Patel's stay was short-lived too

Pooran took the attack to the opposition and struck a 51-run partnership with Brevis but Shadab got rid of the latter. Plunkett didn't have a best of start but he bowled incredibly in the next three overs. He dismissed the dangerous Pooran to suck all the little momentum that New York have gathered until his stay.

Pollard smashed some monstrous sixes but his knock couldn't change the course of the match, while David too entertained with his hard-hitting prowess but it all only helped New York to reduce the deficit of the defeat
