Surrey won by 73 runs!
Surrey 199-6 (20) Middlesex 126/10 (14.5)
Max Holden 43 (23) | Pieter Malan 30 (18)
Will Jacks 3-0-17-3 | Gus Atkinson 2.5-0-20-3
A professional performance from one of England's best T20 teams as Surrey win by 73 runs. The victory was set-up by the batting unit as they posted an impressive 199-6. Chasing such a huge target, Middlesex got off to a poor start as skipper Stephen Eskinazi was run-out in the very first over. Joe Cracknell looked good initially but Gus Atkinson outdid him with his pace and angle as the youngster miscued a pull shot. Thereafter, the duo of Pieter Malan and Max Holden came together to stitch an impressive partnership. However, Sean Abbott didn't allow them to flourish as he removed Malan in the seventh over.
Holden tried to remain positive and he did successfully by attacking Sunil Narine. However, Ryan Higgins struggled to get a move-on and he eventually holed out to long-on off Will Jacks' bowling. A couple of deliveries, Jacks castled Luke Hollman for a two-ball duck as Middlesex stared down the barrel. There was no looking back for Surrey from there on with Narine removing Holden and Martin Andersson in successive overs. At the other end, Jacks added one more scalp by yorking Nathan Fernandes while Atkinson finished off the innings with a couple of wickets in the 15th over!
14.5 Gus Atkinson to Blake Cullen, THAT'S THAT! Full on the stumps, Cullen thumps it powerfully but he fails to get enough elevation. Overton comes in and takes a sharp catch. So, Middlesex have been rolled over 126 as Surrey emerge victorious by 73 runs!
14.4 Gus Atkinson to Blake Cullen, FOUR! WHAT A SHOT! Short of a length delivery, Cullen stands tall and cracks it over extra-cover for a boundary
14.3 Gus Atkinson to John Simpson, SIMPSON HOLES OUT! Full outside-leg, Simpson backs away and tries to slog but he mis-times it wide of long-on. Jacks moves to his left and takes a comfortable catch!
14.2 Gus Atkinson to John Simpson, short of a length on the stumps, Simpson clips it back to the bowler. No run
14.2 Gus Atkinson to John Simpson, short and down leg, Simpson looks to pull it fine but he misses it. WIDE called
14.1 Gus Atkinson to Tom Helm, short of a length on off, Helm pulls it to mid-on for a single
