Commentary

We have a little more than an hour before the grand finale of ECS 2024 begins. I suppose we all need that breather after this match. Remember, the last time these two teams met? We said, "they should have chased it down." Well, there are no shoulds, woulds and coulds in sport. And Lingeswaran Canessane has effectively removed the should from the sentence in the game that mattered more. Indeed, they chased it down.

It wasn't as straight forward though. The start was nightmarish with Zain Ahmed getting dismissed on the first ball of the innings. Men in form - Shayan Iftikhar and Jamshid Nasiri - couldn't convert their starts into anything substantial either.

However, it was a brisk cameo of 24 (10) from Abdul Rahman that turned the tide. Albeit, he couldn't get them home. Zafar Iqbal came back to pick up two wickets in two balls and changed the momentum again.

But President XI had Canessane at the other end, who held his nerve and ensured that the team goes through to finals.
