That's that for tonight but the weekend is ahead. Just the one game tomorrow though and it's a big one for both Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad as they lock horns at the MCA Stadium in Pune. He surely crunched them off the middle of the bat, didn't he? That was some blitz from Jonny Bairstow and his countryman Liam Livingstone did well to curb his natural instincts and weather the storm against Wanindu Hasaranga before adding the finishing touches. The Punjab Kings needed a win and they've got one - they've pulled off the double over the Royal Challengers Bangalore this season and move up to sixth position. Next up are the Delhi Capitals at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai - that's a virtual knockout of sorts, isn't it? As for RCB, they get a break of five days and will watch with a tinge of nervousness as the others go about scrapping for wins themselves. A top-two finish is all but out of the equation now but they'll be itching for two points against table-toppers Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday (May 19). They need it too you'd think, considering their net run-rate that continues to remain in negative territory.

Hear from the man: One of those days isn't it? Couple of those came off and it sure helped. Many quality bowlers in the IPL and sometimes you just have to get them off their lengths. They're so good at it consistently so you just have to get them off their length. From the end he was bowling at, the line he was bowling was obviously off-stump. You generally look to help it into the off-side but he didn't bowl too many around the off-stump today. It's a completely different commodity playing with England and playing here. It's my job to do it in the middle for England and coming here, the stats would suggest I quite enjoy opening the batting. (On the sound off his bat through his innings) They're very good bats I must admit (smiles).

Mayank Agarwal (Punjab Kings Captain): (Close to a complete game?) Definitely. We were very good wicket the bat. I thought we were brilliant - the wicket was holding up a bit. The way Jonny and Livi batted was brilliant. We haven't changed a lot to be really honest. It's just about understanding the situation and the wicket. Maybe those wickets don't allow us to go and get 220 odd so we just have to adapt to it. (Was it a conscious effort to use the longer boundary?) It can get a little tough for the captain to do that but then we can't be too defensive with the ball. We've seen if batters get set, they get going. The boundaries don't matter. We still have to look for wickets. Two points are very important for us. As long as the job is done it's fine if I bat at 5. (On Arshdeep Singh) Very very energetic person. Very confident guy - we can obviously see that on the field. He enjoys his cricket, stays stress-free and I must say he's a leader in the team. He carries around everyone, takes responsibility and even speaks to the bowlers. (Is Anil Kumble smiling today?) I'm pretty sure he is (laughs).

Liam Livingstone: I've got a tight calf, so it was just a precaution to get off and ice it. We didn't want to make it any worse. It's how we want to play our cricket. Jonny was outstanding and he set the tone. From then on, we were ahead of the game and it gave us a chance to get in and assess the conditions a bit longer than usual. It was nice to be able to knock it around for a little bit before setting the platform for the end. Jonny set it up perfectly for the rest of the batters. We bowled on a very good pitch, where I thought we were 10-15 runs short with the short boundary but all credit to the bowlers. If we get our chance to put the opposition under pressure, then we want to make sure that we do that and I thought Jonny did that perfectly today, to one of their best bowlers throughout the tournament. The intent that he showed in his first over, that put us way ahead of the game. The way he went out there and played today, we know how good he is at the top of the order and he's showing that. It's been a different role. I've been up and down the order, just trying to make a contribution in every game wherever I am. Sometimes I've come in with three overs left and sometimes I've come in during the powerplay. The proudest thing for me is to contribute in all areas of the game, that's pretty pleasing for me. I feel like I'm feeling the ball well at the moment and it's nice to put in performances that go a long way to winning your team the game. It's been nice to get some runs and long may that continue. It's something I pride myself on. Wherever I play, I bat in many different positions. Having that skillset to bat anywhere in the order is something that sets me up really well and having the knowledge to bat in the powerplay but also having the skills to come in and whack is from ball one at the death is something I worked really hard on. So, wherever the team, captain or coach want me to bat, I'll try to do my best and work to the best of my abilities in that position.

Faf du Plessis: It was a good score. The way Jonny started the innings, put our bowlers under pressure. Although we pulled things back. I thought 200 was a par score on a really good wicket. It was probably the best wickets we have played on during this campaign. When you're chasing a total like that, the key is not to lose wickets in clusters. That's where we got it a little bit wrong. They went bang bang with me and Virat and the same things later. He's (Kohli) is seeing the lighter side of it. Obviously, when you think of every possible way you can get out. It's just how the game works. Sometimes, when you're a little bit under pressure, the game finds ways to keep you under pressure. All you can do is make sure you're working hard, keep a positive attitude and know that a good knock is around the corner. He played some good shots tonight and obviously we'd like him to keep going. He's handling it really well though. Tough patches are difficult for all of us but he's in good spirits and he also belives it's (the good form) is around the corner. We've got a bit of a break. We came up short all round tonight, not a great outing for us tonight. For me, it's about taking a day off and forget about the performance and then come back to see how to switch back on to win what will be a must-win game for us and put all our energy into the game that's ahead of us, not behind us. One net session won't make you a better player now. We've had a lot of games and it's been a long IPL. So for me, it's about making sure we're nice and strong in the mind. Keep believing in yourself and in the team. If we play to our full potential, we're a ready good team but tonight we didn't do that.

We saw it all today, didn't we? Runs, wickets, towering sixes, spectacular catches and a guest appearance near the sightscreen by a cat. Quite the game at the Brabourne Stadium, even as the margin might suggest otherwise.

210 was never going to be an easy chase but the Royal Challengers Bangalore most certainly had the batting prowess to get it done. When a certain Virat Kohli gets going, you know the chase is truly on alright. The king certainly seemed to be in the mood tonight, even stepping out and whipping Harpreet Brar over the mid-wicket fence.

Alas though, as has been the story of his season, he found yet another new way to get dismissed. Kagiso Rabada snuffed him out and when Rishi Dhawan removed Faf du Plessis and Mahipal Lomror inside the Powerplay, RCB were in tatters.

Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar launched a counter-attack after a couple of overs of consolidation. The chase was back on track again and the signs were ominous for the Punjab Kings, with Rahul Chahar taking some real tap in his first over. It was always a matter of a wicket or two though and Chahar himself did the needful by prizing out Patidar, before spin partner Harpreet returned to remove the Big Show.

Thereafter, the asking rate escalated at the rate of knots. A word of appreciation to Rishi Dhawan, the designated fifth bowler in the side, who used his change ups to great effect and hit the perfect length on this surface. More so, with Liam Livingstone out of the park due to an ankle injury, warranting the frontline bowlers to do their bit.

And they all did it, didn't they? Backed equally by some outstanding ground fielding and catching, the Kings executed their plans to the 'T' and Dinesh Karthik's wicket was the final nail hammered into the RCB coffin. Everything thereafter was a mere formality, even as Harpreet and Mayank Agarwal plucked a couple of spectacular catches while Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh continued to show just why they're as reliable as they come at the death. A clinical performance by the Kings, who've also boosted their net run-rate into positive territory!
